I think she could use some static guard here. That’s the biggest problem I see. Otherwise, this dress and it’s color in her is amazing in my opinion. |
The Queen looks beautiful here! |
This is what happens when you eliminate skilled tradesmen like tailors and seamstresses. People simply don't know anymore what a well fitting dress looks like. |
I don’t care for the 3/4 length sleeves. |
. Interesting I love the olive outfit, including the hat. Very appropriate but interesting cut and flattering to her figure. |
+1. I like the olive look a lot! |
+1. I think this is from when she and Prince Phillip flew back from their trip after receiving the notice her father had died unexpectedly. |

I imagine MM is harder to dress than KM. Kate is tall, slim, narrow and has equal body proportions that likely don't require much tailoring.
Not so for MM - she's wide wasted and smaller everywhere else. MM has great ankles. |
Philip looks to be crying? Veils were a lot more substantial then. |
Very nice coat and brooch. |
I think he's just bending down to speak to the Queen Mother -- he was extremely tall. I sincerely doubt Prince Philip ever cried in public (or potentially in private -- he seems like the kind of man who might have had it as a point of pride that he had not wept after achieving the age of 5 or something). |
She was still postpartum here I think? That neckline does not lend well to that time for her and most women. Extra fat, lumpy breasts...all totally normal but shows yet again that she doesn't know how to dress for her body type. Red is a great color for her though. Oh and thanks to everyone for all the comments on her undergarments...it must have gotten in my head because i made a last minute and much improved change in mine when getting dressed this morning! |
I like the coat and brooch as well but the Queen's head covering is bizarre. Perhaps it's the black and white photo but she looks like she's wearing scarf wrapped around her hair? I'm guessing it's more of a turban style hat IRL but it is very odd looking in this photo. Hmm, turns out even the Queen could make fashion missteps when wearing fleeting trends. Imagine! |
And there is Edward in the background. Because of his abdication to marry Wallis Simpson and George VI's early death, we're talking about Queen Elizabeth's funeral and 70-year reign oday. |
