Aget, it’s Joe who said it had to be a woman. Is that sexist? |
Funny to see the Klobuchar fan club back in force. Shocker that her sensible approach would appeal to sensible neoliberals in the DMV. Not happening. |
+1. |
I would be very happy with Bass but only if she can figure out how to effectively push back against the radical leftist tag. The oppo dump on her was brutal. It's telling to me how many of her colleagues in congress and the DNC prefer her. She is a low-key effective workhorse, with bipartisan respect, and doesn't make choices out of seeking the spotlight. She might be a little low key for a campaign but is very likable and would best guarantee Black turnout since her entire adult life has been dedicated to their concerns. But, as with Rice, I'm concerned about her baggage and appeal to swing voters. |
Her mean streak doesn't fit with Joe's brand. I'm not sure she even passed preliminary vetting given the timing of her dropping out. Her record on race relations is bad, would have been a non-starter. Whitmer seems to be doing well with the Black community in MI, chose a Black Lt-Gov, and has passed two executive orders addressing racial disparities and bias. And has governing and economic chops Amy lacks. She won't be back, at least not this time. |
I think that Whitmer declared racism to be a public health emergency in her state. That’s constructive. She has al also been one of America’s best advocates for masking. What’s not to like? |
Can you bet on this? I'd like to place a long shot bet on Michelle Obama. I'm assuming she's at 100+ to 1 odds or something like that? |
This bookie site says Michelle Obama is 4th place in the odds at +1600. Does that mean for every $100 you bet you'd win $1600? So a $20 bet would win $320?
Kamala Harris -110 Susan Rice +200 Gretchen Whitmer +550 Michelle Obama +1600 |
Interesting. From a WaPo article today:
"He initially promised to make his decision by Aug. 1, then pushed it back. While he has been expected to make his announcement a few days before the Aug. 17 start of the Democratic convention, two people familiar with the process said that one-on-one interviews had not been scheduled with some of the top contenders as of midweek, although Biden met with Whitmer last weekend. Both spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations." I think they're usually scheduled last-minute, but I wonder if he didn't narrow it down more than we thought and eliminate some of the "top contenders" already. |
I'm coming more and more to think you may be right. I wonder if they are begging behind closed doors--and that is the delay? Imagine the excitement that would give to the ballot. Of course, this scares me more than anything, because I am a Trump supporter. They will try to imply that we are getting Barack along with Michelle. Of course, that has its downside---"sexism." |
+200 I'd vote for a Biden/House Centipede ticket if that's what it came to. I loathe the creepy, disgusting, leggy, freakishly fast critters with a passion, but it's still a far, far better ticket than Trump/Pence/whomever. |
Well the convention starts in a week so I think he knows by now. Kudos to his team for keeping this quiet. I'm amazed by how few leaks there have been. Announcement tomorrow? |
Da da, Boris-bot. ![]() |
Looks like none of the prospects are on the Sunday talk shows today and most have gone quiet on social media the past several days (except Harris?). Maybe they were told to go to ground? |
She is smart, talented and a solid Representative. But, as a VP candidate in 2020 her appeal is gimmicky. Rightly or wrongly her appeal never passed the "former police chief" phase. |
