Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Aziz did a great job coaching the actual talent at Hayfield.

That’s very fair to say, but the people that do the hiring and firing felt they wanted more out of the program and went a different direction, it happens in life.

I’ll say this, if u want to judge his ability, see how he does this next year when these seniors are gone, everyone knows rules will be in place, since most people want to say that’s what carrying them.

Worst kept secret out there is that Overton has transferred in loads of PME talent into the middle school also. The recruiting train will keep on rolling even after this season… IF he’s allowed to stay. I work in the middle school at Hayfield.

There's no way he is coaching for fcps next year.

Right; he has stacked the school from 7th-12th with transfers from his pay-me-to-play private business.

They are 3-7 yes it’s safe to say he not a good coach, nothing to do with this one game.

Nick Saban had a 2-6 year at Alabama; one year’s record is meaningless, especially when you’re limited in who you can have on your team (exceptions may apply).

Agree. No way. Too controversial. Apparently there is some very juicy discovery.

You must be one of the idiots government workers because you can't read.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Saban#cite_note-2007season-3:~:text=Saban%27s%20on%2Dthe,%5B2%5D

Saban's on-the-field record in 2007 was 7–6 [b](4–4 SEC).[1] The NCAA ruled that Alabama must vacate 21 victories due to sanctions stemming from textbook-related infractions. The infractions, and 16 of the vacated victories, began under previous coach Mike Shula, and continued until they were discovered during the 2007 season, Saban's first at Alabama, and thus the official NCAA record for that year reflects a 2–6 mark.[2]

Edison is 4-6 this season. They beat Hayfield last year with the same coach.

Proves my point about in so many ways,
*Aziz was not that good of a coach good man bad coach
*even at 4-6 (thought I read 3-7) they shouldn’t be in playoffs
*Hayfield I believe still win district but lost in first round

Kids were all over that place walking around I guess with some new trend of ski goggles on there heads

In the midst of controversy, this made me laugh out loud, there is a ski goggle trend?!

While coaches and parents all across the county advocated for forfeiting, the Edison team took the field to contest their playoff berth on the gridiron....and not a courtroom or strong-armed bureaucratic office.

Edison just scored first and walked to the buses leaving as winners

The Edison kids are truly the real winners. It's amazing how this SB and Reid sent them into this knowing it would be a slaughter. If only Edison had hired Overton instead and he had brought them all those players.

Disagree. This is an unfair situation for the adults to put them into. Hopefully no one gets injured.

OK yeah, I forgot about that aspect. A team stacked with big, huge recruited players when most teams only have 1 or 2 big kids. Reid, did you think about this? The optics look bad for Reid no matter what happens here. I think she's not going to last.

I've been to the games. Hayfield is a lot of things but they're not big or huge. They're actually quite average to small for football players.

People trying to make Hayfield this incredible super tea, IF you know football, you know they are not. This is about execution of the plays called. Edison is simply NOT well coached, you cannot blame Hayfield for when they throw an interception, when they fumble a snap near the end zone or flat out missed tackles. The refs have called a pretty even game, they are definitely baiting some players to react, so let’s see how disciplined they truly are. Prime example is Edison cheered for blocking an extra point like they had scored. The game was over in the first quarter, tbh.

The main coach spearheading all this was Pannoni, and instead of preparing his team, he’s getting beat on pretty good himself. Could be karma or could be coaching. Guess we’ll see who’s next, seems to be Fairfax.

All in all security around field, no more than 50 Edison fans, probably 150 Hayfield fans including kids running around on Hayfield sidelines, on this chilly brisk night. No parent rants, nothing.

How did Edison beat Hayfield last year if the coaches are so bad? Also, it was a home game for Hayfield and there were hardly any students there. Just parents. That says a lot.

Can’t win without talent, no matter how good the coaches are. Good coaches situate themselves to get talent.

Public school coaches get the talent that lives in their boundary. If they recruit, they are breaking the rules they agreed to play under. Overton is a cheat.

By the third round of the playoffs, you can make some type of cheating case about almost all the teams left.

The Hayfield players are not big, huge, monsters. In fact, they are quite average. You all have made them into something nefarious, fearful, and detestable.

These so called adults talking about cheating sure have no problem lying. My daughter is an Edison soccer player and she has friends at Hayfield so while we support Edison we don't hate Hayfield. The lies on here are crazy. The football players are not large at all.

Where is the sportsmanship in running up a score 75-0 by half? Reid should step in and suspend a Coach just for that.

Maybe they figure it is the last game they will play they should go all out!

The haters are saying a lot of things that just aren’t true. The courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Have spoken and they didn’t think Hayfield should be left out of the postseason.

The VHSL will get another opportunity to try and sway the court in 2 weeks. That’s something you can hold onto in the meantime.

Your rant is nonsensical. Saying the Edison kids are baiting the Cheaters, who shouldn't even be allowed on the field? That is a wild POV.

Well seeing as how you weren’t there, you can call it what you want but I’m telling you what I see happening. Well, regardless of how you feel they are on the field and I was just giving you what I saw, and anyone else that was there ( I left halftime) pls tell me if I’m wrong in anything I stated.

Thank you for this. I appreciate a play by play
