Where is the sportsmanship in running up a score 75-0 by half? Reid should step in and suspend a Coach just for that.

Maybe they figure it is the last game they will play they should go all out!

Or they just aren’t responding to the pettiness going on off the field. They are getting their revenge on the field in a good clean football game.

NBC4 had a story on Hayfield football and the playoff against Edison yesterday evening.

Am wondering why the Post hasn't picked this up. It has picked less impactful FCPS scandals - maybe there is something to that conspiracy theory with the Post and FCPS.

Because the Post is Woke

Interesting my daughter works there too, and how there are n middle school sports, ima call b.s. and shouldn’t you be teaching

They are 3-7 yes it’s safe to say he not a good coach, nothing to do with this one game.

Nick Saban had a 2-6 year at Alabama; one year’s record is meaningless, especially when you’re limited in who you can have on your team (exceptions may apply).

His first years at Alabama and pls don’t ever put Aziz and Saban in same sentence, and I’m hearing from ppl inside he wasn’t the Man yall want to claim he was towards the kids, how interesting, but this isn’t about him

Edison is 4-6 this season. They beat Hayfield last year with the same coach.

Proves my point about in so many ways,
*Aziz was not that good of a coach good man bad coach
*even at 4-6 (thought I read 3-7) they shouldn’t be in playoffs
*Hayfield I believe still win district but lost in first round

Kids were all over that place walking around I guess with some new trend of ski goggles on there heads

In the midst of controversy, this made me laugh out loud, there is a ski goggle trend?!

I believe the Edison “hype squad” was doing a skiing theme. The Edison cheerleaders were wearing “ski gear” - goggles, winter head bands you often see on the slopes, snow pants, jackets. Edison’s small hype squad were also dressed in the same type of gear.

At the local football games I’ve attended, the kids pick a theme and dress for it - white out, pink out, Hawaiian, etc. The ski theme was appropriate last night with the weather.

Most of the non-right-leaning news outlets around here tend to toe the FCPS party line about things. I assume they: 1) don't want to get on the bad side of their new sources within FCPS and 2) instinctively right code any complaints about the public schools even if they don't consciously think about it.

This is why there has to be a truly major outcry for the Post education reporters to pick up any story that makes the the local publics look bad in any way. Again I don't think this is conscious, or at least 2 is not.

Yes, all FCPS parents know we don't have MS football.
The point is PME pay to play middle schoolers are being recruited to transfer in and be in the Hayfield system, do green day workouts, etc.

Can't have a good clean football game when the people who make the rules ban one aide as cheaters.

It is probably a surprise to all the PWC Overton people.

While coaches and parents all across the county advocated for forfeiting, the Edison team took the field to contest their playoff berth on the gridiron....and not a courtroom or strong-armed bureaucratic office.

Edison just scored first and walked to the buses leaving as winners

The Edison kids are truly the real winners. It's amazing how this SB and Reid sent them into this knowing it would be a slaughter. If only Edison had hired Overton instead and he had brought them all those players.

Disagree. This is an unfair situation for the adults to put them into. Hopefully no one gets injured.

OK yeah, I forgot about that aspect. A team stacked with big, huge recruited players when most teams only have 1 or 2 big kids. Reid, did you think about this? The optics look bad for Reid no matter what happens here. I think she's not going to last.

I've been to the games. Hayfield is a lot of things but they're not big or huge. They're actually quite average to small for football players.

The haters are saying a lot of things that just aren’t true. The courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Have spoken and they didn’t think Hayfield should be left out of the postseason.

The VHSL will get another opportunity to try and sway the court in 2 weeks. That’s something you can hold onto in the meantime.

This is not true, the courts just said the VHSL did not go through the right procedure to suspend them. VHSL is redoing the case correctly as we speak

This is crazy, how many kids get private lessons in all sports from swimming baseball tennis basketball even lacrosse and soccer. But now his is pay him to play, if they didn’t like that method why not just not play for him or not have him coach your child, then you don’t have that alleged issue.

Agree. No way. Too controversial. Apparently there is some very juicy discovery.

Which all would have stayed hidden hit again the freedom parents can’t help themselves. I DO hope that defamation suit continues so there is discovery and all made public, but already have 1 Hayfield employee fleeing overseas outside subpoena reach. Reid continues to write at best misleading and at worst internationally dishonest messages to the community- distorting the facts to fit her narrative. Fully agree will be equally worthless investigation if Reid et al permitted to pick the firm to do review. Oh, and all in hopes to find problems elsewhere but to have never done anything to Hayfield.

The Hayfield players are not big, huge, monsters. In fact, they are quite average. You all have made them into something nefarious, fearful, and detestable.

These so called adults talking about cheating sure have no problem lying. My daughter is an Edison soccer player and she has friends at Hayfield so while we support Edison we don't hate Hayfield. The lies on here are crazy. The football players are not large at all.

My son is a Lake Braddock Football player and has no hate against "new" Hayfield players. To be honest, lots of the kids in the Football team follow the new Hayfield players on social media since the summer.
My son says they are very good. Not huge at all, but very talented and athletic.

People here are really blowing things out of proportion and many don't even have kids in the Football program. LOL.
