Biden's VP?

They include sleeping with a married man twice her age who appointed her to her political appointments that paid her $400k. Failing to prosecute certain banks and individuals for mortgage fraud. She also ignored the pleas of the people to investigate and prosecute the police for suspicious deaths of young black men. Nor did she support laws eventually put into place by Governor Brown to help end racial profiling of the police in California. She went on record objecting to a law proposing all police where body cameras. She also opposed legislation requiring the AG’s office to independently investigate deadly police shootings. You will also be hearing the name Kevin Cooper if she is the VP (look up that tragic story) and her record on prosecuting Black men, opposing the legalization of marijuana, and the list goes on.

So this is the stuff that gives me such reservation around her politically. It just seems like a very slipppery slope with her. The timing for her interest is all wrong, because she doesn’t have any recent meaningful action that contradicts her historic action. And current public persona.

Add that in with the very obvious oppo dumps when we have been strengthened in a unified campaign otherwise — it just stinks to me. Stinks.

+1 The Biden team knows all this, trust. I think the Dodd comments were deliberately leaked to prepare the public for her not being the pick.

I think that was just Dodd talking to a donor who talked to the press. But interesting point.

The Axelrod comments are telling. If Sen. Harris or her operatives dumped opposition research in the press, then that could be a trust issue with Biden. The delay is also very bad for Harris as the perceived front runner. If she has not closed the deal by now, she may never. Biden is clearly looking for alternatives. Rice may be moving higher up into contention but Biden has not made up his mind.

I tend to think the Whitmer leak is a smoke screen. It could be a way to prepare the public for a surprise.

There is a small part of me that would love a timely little mic drop. I don’t know if I’m hoping for it or it is intuition.

I'm glad that Harris has stood her ground and personally I hope she declines a cabinet position if it's offered to her . She'll be more effective and have more influence being a senator than essentially sitting on an ejectable chair which is what cabinet positions are.

Cabinet positions are only ejectable chairs in the Trump administration. Biden's AG is a great opportunity for meaningful reforms without all the congressional bureaucracy, and for publicity. She could be the next Bobby Kennedy. A Nytimes article said she's open to it and it would be smart of her to consider it. I don't know that there's actually bad blood, since they've been fundraising together, though maybe she's the one who will hold a grudge if she's not the VP pick. But I'd also love Sally Yates in the position, and so would Biden if Harris isn't interested.

Kamala should hold out for the Supreme Court pick. She would automatically be in the top five, probably the top three. She has been an AG before.

And she would be great at that!! Lifetime appointment, in what is arguably the most powerful leadership cohort in our country. As long as she can pass the character test, it would be an honor to have her service and representation there. Why isn’t she playing the long game? It is sensible and something she is perfectly qualified for. Maybe she is concerned about her record or too much scrutiny. Or maybe she doesn’t want that type of public service commitment. That role is absolutely a lifestyle.

I think his own personal first choice would be Rice - they know each other really well from the Obama admin, and all the articles about his VP search say he wants a partner and someone he already knows and trusts. But, she does carry a lot of Obama administration baggage and I’m sure Republicans would love to throw out the “Clinton Obama Benghazi emails rarrrrrr” red meat to the base.

Demmings may be a gimmick to you - for me, as a public interest lobbyist, I have been nothing but impressed by her. Wish even 50% of Dem caucus was as well-prepared as she is for hearings and floor time. She is fluent with the materials and subject matter, clearly reading memos and listening to her staff (who also appear top notch). Perhaps the law enforcement background was seen as a detraction - that said, really like her and hope she has a long future in national Dem politics.

I like her for that, too, but that’s also why I like Warren.

I like Warren too. I read her book The Two Income Trap a long time ago. It really explained the middle class was cash strapped and single moms were falling even further behind. Biden should pick Whitmer or Duckworth. I agree Rice could be Sec of State.

DP, and largely agree. It’s always been Whitmer as the wisest pick with all things being equal. Still think Grisham is a strong parallel to her, but Whitmer has some national recognition because she is “that woman”.

Joe Biden isn't going to pick a white woman for the Veep no matterr how many times some of you middled aged white women on dcum fantasize over it . But you know what ? I really want Biden —who is only marginally better than trump intellectually — to pick a white woman .On election day , you'll find out that trump is far from the worst thing that has ever happened to AAs. Not long ago, some of you were all calling klobuchar a 'shoe-in'

Da da, Boris-bot.

Isn't there credibility in the AP saying the pick is already Harris? They said that last night.

Shocker : the supreme Court gig isn't of interest to everyone .

Cabinet secretaries last an average of three years regardless of administration. Why would Kamala give up a solidly blue senate seat for a cabinet position? Even if it's AG?

Kamala Harris wiki page is semi-protected until March 2021.

Rice and Whitmer pages are semi-protected until 17 and 21 August in 2020.

Any significance?

There has been a tremendous amount of trolling on Susan Rice's WIKI page for the last few days. If she is going to bring out the crazy even before her name is announced, better that Biden does not pick her.

I’m PP you’re responding to, advocating for Whitmer. I’m black, and I’m in my early 30s. So, not exactly fitting your description of these middle aged white women fantasizing about the same. What do I fantasize over? I’ll give you a hint. It starts with opening the aperture amongst narrow minded posters like you.

Period. Doesn't help that the primary starting in February 2019.

White woman GOP observation:

Biden prefers Rice, but too many public problems with her. Plus, she has never campaigned.
Biden picked Bass, but then all the oppo came out. Bass has one advantage over Rice and Harris, to my view: she is personable. Not afraid to smile.
Pressure is on to pick Harris, which most everyone seems to think is the logical choice--but the put down of Biden at the debate was pretty brutal. My guess is that neither Biden wants her. I suspect that Jill is not agreeing to Harris.
Whitmer was likely in second tier and is now being considered.

In the hearings last week with Barr, both Bass and Demings did not pull the obnoxious attitude that the rest of the Dems on the panel did. That tells me they were both in the running.

Answer: no clue

Michelle? That would generate some buzz, but I believe that she really is not interested.

But, she could run and let everyone think it would really be Barack--a la Lurleen Wallace. Would not be very feminist, though, if people really thought it would be Barack.

Makes no sense to talk about Michelle now. Its Whitmer vs Rice vs Harris.
