Not staying was smart. The Queen and Charles and William could have talked Harry into changing his mind and staying in the UK and staying as a senior royal. In that case, Meghan would have divorced Harry. Because of the potential to turn into a divorce and custody issue, MM needed to be out of the UK with Archie and ready to bolt with the baby for the US borders and US court jurisdiction as fast as possible. No court in the UK is going to an American to have primary custody over a member of the British royal family, even if he is a baby.

Guess it depends on how committed they are. To each other, to leaving.

Apparently not that committed.

Even if Meghan was 100% sure that Harry was going to tell his family to take a hike, it was still smart to get the baby out of the country.
The Queen could have forbid them from taking Archie out of the country. She could have told them that they could leave, but the baby has to stay. The Queen has sovereign custody of her grandchildren. It wouldn't be their decision as to whether Archie could go with them to Canada. The Queen could use the baby as leverage to keep them from leaving.

They didn't/don't have to flee the country. England isn't a large country but it's not that small either. They don't have to move to Canada. Unless Meghan is planning on divorcing and taking Archie with her.

To get away from the worst of the UK press, they definitely have to flee the country. The UK press killed Princess Diana. They literally chased her until she died. US press is not nearly as rough as UK press.

Er..you know Princess Diana died in ANOTHER COUNTRY? Not the UK?

She died in France. She was being chased by members of the UK press and paps who were intent on selling pictures to the UK press.

Stress can definitely make elderly people more vunerable to illness.

That would be an interesting response to the Sussexes' threat to have a tell-all interview that "wouldn't be pretty". The Queen can go, like, then I'm having a heart attack RIGHT NOW and tomorrow every paper in the world will condemn you and your no-good wife as selfish, inconsiderate children who tore apart the family and brought the beloved monarch to her deathbed. You won't be a global celebrity, you'll be a boy who killed his granny.

Front page - ruling the press from afar while happy.

Also she's still got the court case looming over them all! Now that's a Queen.

Diana died in Paris which was not in the U.K. the last time I checked, so clearly the paparazzi are familiar with the concept of travel.

Canada is a lot father than Paris for a British media person.

That does not extend to her GREAT grandchildren.

Horribly to imply that she would do such a thing.

This is the same woman that made her grandchildren walk behind the casket of their dead mother to protect her son from retribution.

So no - I wouldn't put it past her.

From article linked above:

"The duchess was last night pictured in Canada for the first time since she returned there following the bombshell 'Megxit' statement. She was seen boarding a sea plane from Vancouver Island which appeared to be destined for Whistler ski resort."

It's even worse than that. They chased her into the tunnel and her driver lost control. Diana was STILL ALIVE in the backseat. Did the press help her?

No, they took pictures as she lay there with a severe head injury. Buckingham Palace had to pay hundreds of thousands to track down every single photo and get them before they could release them.

Stating the truth isn't an attack. Only the Queen had the authority to have Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, and Prince William line up in a row and march ceremoniously behind the casket.

The Earl of Spencer, Diana's brother, publicly stated the palace courtiers lied to him and said the boys wanted to walk behind their dead mother. He talked to the boys after the funeral and it was lie. He pledged at the funeral to protect the brothers and that's why he revealed what the Windsors did.

Meghan was asked to leave by Prince Charles prior to the wedding when she was observed taking photos of private areas of his home and recording private conversations. That she is continuing to trash the family who has benefited her so greatly is not all that surprising.

Where’s her baby?

Not out in the snow and at home with his nanny? Where's yours?
