Not staying was smart. The Queen and Charles and William could have talked Harry into changing his mind and staying in the UK and staying as a senior royal. In that case, Meghan would have divorced Harry. Because of the potential to turn into a divorce and custody issue, MM needed to be out of the UK with Archie and ready to bolt with the baby for the US borders and US court jurisdiction as fast as possible. No court in the UK is going to an American to have primary custody over a member of the British royal family, even if he is a baby.

Guess it depends on how committed they are. To each other, to leaving.

Apparently not that committed.

Even if Meghan was 100% sure that Harry was going to tell his family to take a hike, it was still smart to get the baby out of the country.
The Queen could have forbid them from taking Archie out of the country. She could have told them that they could leave, but the baby has to stay. The Queen has sovereign custody of her grandchildren. It wouldn't be their decision as to whether Archie could go with them to Canada. The Queen could use the baby as leverage to keep them from leaving.

They didn't/don't have to flee the country. England isn't a large country but it's not that small either. They don't have to move to Canada. Unless Meghan is planning on divorcing and taking Archie with her.

To get away from the worst of the UK press, they definitely have to flee the country. The UK press killed Princess Diana. They literally chased her until she died. US press is not nearly as rough as UK press.

That does not extend to her GREAT grandchildren.

Horribly to imply that she would do such a thing.

No, just pointing out that a family that celebrates men who cheat on their wives, are pedophiles, and the women aren't too much better - have really nothing over Harry/Meghan.

There are tons of families with skeletons in their closets but without billion-dollar budgets. I don't think Meghan should have had any illusions about her inlaws, and it was her decision to join the family.

The Royal Rota system was put in place to shield them a great deal from the press. That will no longer be the case.

If you look at the photographers, Meghan and Doria call the same agency to set up the photos.

Diana died in Paris which was not in the U.K. the last time I checked, so clearly the paparazzi are familiar with the concept of travel.

“Meghan is now among the most unpopular members of the royal family according to a fresh poll for the Daily Mail, with an approval rating of -2, making only Camilla, Andrew and Fergie more hated. Harry, who not long ago was the nation's most loved prince, has seen his rating slump by 20 points to fifth

I don't think it was appropriate for her to participate in the meeting. The money decision is not hers, the title decision is not hers. This is really a family matter, and I mean BRF. She's not a part of it so she doesn't get a vote.

She does have custody of her great grandchildren. She approves travel for her great grandchildren as well. They can't fly or travel without her permission.

You've made that shit up about sovereign custody.

Plus, no one can really take custody of a grown ass man. That's her grandchild.

This is the same woman that made her grandchildren walk behind the casket of their dead mother to protect her son from retribution.

So no - I wouldn't put it past her.

Diana died because she got into a car with an inebriated driver and also didn’t wear a seatbelt.

*sigh*

It's not made up. It came up in the 90s because of Diana and Charles divorce. NEITHER of them had custody of William and Harry (who were 11 and 15 at the time). Legally it was the Queen and both had to get her permission before taking them out of the country.
