How much wear and tear should my Burberry quilted jacket have after 4 years/ can I return?

Anonymous
I have a black Burberry quilted jacket that I purchased from Nordstrom in the fall of 2009. I have worn it a good amount over the last 4 years, especially in the fall each year. I've lost a good amount of weight and the jacket has gone from being very fitted to baggy. I told my husband that I was going to try to sell it on ebay and buy a new one in a smaller size, and he pointed out that my jacket is in terrible condition. I looked at it more closely and he is right- it just hasn't held up well at all! The stitching has come undone in a ton of places, and there is a lot of pilling. I'm pretty shocked that it would look so badly- this was a $500 jacket. Any chance that Nordstrom would take it back and give me a new one (in the same size- I don't expect them to give me a new one in a smaller size!) or is this normal wear and tear after four seasons of use?

Sorry OP, but I think it's crazy for you to expect a new jacket after 4 years that you have worn "a good amount" even $500 coats are made of fabric and thread not steel and gold. I have jackets from target that have held beautifully after 4 years with "a good amount" of use. Most of what you are paying for is the name.

Where was it made? China?

It's normal wear and tear. And you didn't even notice until your DH pointed it out? Anyone who tries to return something after four years of heavy use is a cheapskate in my book.

Reminds me of when my sister used to work at JC Penney in the boys dept. A man come in, threw four pairs of dirty, stained jeans on the counter and said, "What my money back." When my sister inquired WHY, he said, "These don't fit my boys anymore."

My god.

No, you do not even try to return a four year old jacket. Your husband and you seem not too bright.

I have a black quilted jacket from Lands' End... same age as yours. I've worn it almost every day for three months every winter since then. It looks great. I paid about $60 for it.

Sorry, OP. Your husband takes back clothes he wears for four years?? Gross.

Come to think of it, DH isn't aging so well either. Can I get a refund?

This surely must be a joke. Because no one would engage in such shitty, borderline unethical behavior. If you can't afford expensive clothes, you don't buy expensive clothes.

Another entitled DCUM asshole!

And my Jimmy Choo's have scuff marks on the bottom!

Maybe the only reason she can afford expensive clothes, is because he returns all of his.

Seriously?

I wear $500 winter coats my mom wore in her early 20s.

If this brand claims to make good quality lasting items I'd return.
