How much wear and tear should my Burberry quilted jacket have after 4 years/ can I return?

On the oher hand my wife insisted I buy a Burberry trench coat when we were in London 25+ years ago.. This is teh coat that put them on the map and it has held up great.

I had only ever purchased cheap purses. For a recent birthday I got a really nice one, went to wear it, and saw the sticking was falling apart. Had to haggle with the people at Lord and Taylor to let me return it. At the same time, I had a never worn item with tags in and the receipt and it was two years old. Bloomingdales was great about letting me return it... Even apologized that it needed to be store credit since I no longer had the old credit card. Guess where I shop now? That said, I don't think I'd feel right trying to return something that took a few years to seem "defective". I guess there's no harm in asking... IF you do, be polite about it and prepared to be told no.

Behavior like this increases prices for the rest of us. Nordstrom wouldnt be in business if everyone returned shoes after two years and complained of wear, bras after a few months, jackets after five years. Ridiculous.

You should shop at less expensive places. If your coat is causing such anxiety & scheming . . . Not to mention the eBay . . . It means you are spending way beyond your means.

Returning four year old clothing = stealing or shop lifting. Equally unethical.

Neither Burberry nor Nordstrom guarantees that clothing, with repeated extended wear, will not show signs of REPEATED EXTENDED WEAR!

You have to be kidding to think anyone owes you a new jacket because it looks like it has been worn. And don't argue price, you were the one to decide to pay that much for a jacket in the first place.

Wow OP. These cats have claws. Most of them probably just jumped on the bandwagon bc they felt like being mean today.

As for the thread, I wouldn't return to Nordstrom BUT I would definitely write to Burberry and ask what they are willing to do about it.

Burberry quilt jacket is way small

That’s not why the coat cost $500.

Why did you reply to a post from 2013 with nothing useful to add?

Last winter I bought a Vince $410.00 cashmere sweater from Nordstrom (I know...temporary insanity), I wore it once for 2.5 hrs and noticed a lot of pilling. Even after one wear, I had a lot of mixed feelings about returning the item, even though I definitely expected better quality at $410.00, so I can't wrap my head around your question.

Eventually, I returned it. My only point is that the return policy is there but for reasonable cases, if you had said that the jacket lasted only one season, that's still understandable. Returning a worn out piece of clothing after four years simply says that you cannot afford that price range and should shop elsewhere. I am not saying this in a nasty way but just more of a fact.

Anonymous wrote:I have a black Burberry quilted jacket that I purchased from Nordstrom in the fall of 2009. I have worn it a good amount over the last 4 years, especially in the fall each year. I've lost a good amount of weight and the jacket has gone from being very fitted to baggy. I told my husband that I was going to try to sell it on ebay and buy a new one in a smaller size, and he pointed out that my jacket is in terrible condition. I looked at it more closely and he is right- it just hasn't held up well at all! The stitching has come undone in a ton of places, and there is a lot of pilling. I'm pretty shocked that it would look so badly- this was a $500 jacket. Any chance that Nordstrom would take it back and give me a new one (in the same size- I don't expect them to give me a new one in a smaller size!) or is this normal wear and tear after four seasons of use?

im amazed how differently your brain works that this would even occur to you.

few jackets will survive 4 seasons of daily use esp a qulted one like this $500. id sell it but doubt you will get more than 45-60 dollars.

clothes do not last forever. not even the best made. retail is on high alert re lost prevention so id not even try if you shop there a lot
