Today's Acceptances - which schools

The experts were all saying ED full pay applications are the path to acceptance at reach schools this year. With challenged economic/business models and significant drop in full pay international students, American Universities and colleges are poised for the biggest re-stratification of their enrollment in decades. Ultimately a detriment to society, but an opportunity for affluent families.

What about for non-affluent families? DS didn't ED because I told him that means full pay, and we can't commit to that. He got into his first choice EA, the only one we've heard from. Financial info will come separately in January. This school typically provides no merit aid, and FAFSA tells me we have to pay 100%. DS also applied EA to two schools that typically DO provide merit aid to deserving students, but I'm afraid they won't in the COVID environment. So stressful.

That is my hope. The public he prefers (currently his second choice, but I hope it leapfrogs to first if he gets in) only offers ED, not EA. So we wait until spring.

Yeah, my son just did ED to VT engineering. Accepted, done. Can't beat the price and he chose not to try for tons of merit at a bunch of privates that could be more selective. The more selective out of state publics seem to be saving their aid for instate kids. Fair enough.

The WP admissions specifically says that there are no rolling admissions and the deadline is January 31st. Maybe PP meant their DC got all their requirements in?

Congrats! I really wanted DS to ED to VT but he wanted to give UVa a shot. Waste of time IMO because he's not getting in and even if he did VT is stronger for the area of STEM he wants to pursue. I think if he'd been able to visit more before everything shut down he'd have been more confident about VT but without that and lots of friends applying to UVA he wasn't willing to do ED. Oh well, he should get in EA.

Maybe she was referring to a congressional nomination which have started going out around the country.

Yes offer of admission and accepted to USMA. DS had a Letter of Assurance (LOA) in July - guarantee of admission if you pass physical, physical fitness test and get nomination. USMA uses LIA much more than other academies. They have already offered admission to about 50 kids. And yes - VA Congressional nomination.
