Today's Acceptances - which schools

My kid didn’t apply ED because he didn’t feel he knew enough (because of Covid canceling almost all visits) to have a first choice

I hugely regret that right now. Feels like colleges are looking to lock in as much of their class as possible in this uncertain time and seeing acceptances everywhere: Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, BC, Carnegie Mellon

Never seen anything quite like it

What do you mean “never seen anything like it?” Are you seeing more acceptances? Is it a high percentage of the incoming freshman class this year? There are always kids getting in ED to these schools. FWIW my kid was deferred ED from one of the schools you listed above.

Personally, I’ve been SHOCKED at how many of DD’s peers got into Stanford REA. Thrilled for them but it definitely feels like more than usual. I don’t have any numbers to back that up though, just a hunch.

ED at Wake.

My DC did not ED anywhere for similar reasons to the PP (covid made campus visits impossible).

Wondering if that was a mistake now too.

I honestly wish that ED had been rethought across the board this year. Seems like plenty of kids were not able to make an ED choice, so I hope it doesn't greatly disadvantage students this cycle.

Is Duke ED out?

It’s the opposite at my daughter’s school with regards to Stanford. Zero acceptances.

The experts were all saying ED full pay applications are the path to acceptance at reach schools this year. With challenged economic/business models and significant drop in full pay international students, American Universities and colleges are poised for the biggest re-stratification of their enrollment in decades. Ultimately a detriment to society, but an opportunity for affluent families.

Stanford is a non-binding early action, so there is not the same "advantage" applying to Stanford early compared to true binding ED schools.

Argh. My kid didn’t apply EA or ED and am very much regretting that choice.

I think PP meant which high school had more acceptances into Stanford

Any word on timing for Loyola Marymount or Drexel?

Likely going to be this way for a few years.
