In September 2017, The New York Times reported that Barrett was a member of a small, tightly knit Charismatic Christian group called People of Praise;[68] members of the group swear a life-long oath to one another and are assigned a personal advisor (a "head" or "handmaiden") that gives direction on important personal decisions.

This is incredibly troubling and I'm a Catholic and registered Republican (but not a Trump supporter).

This shouldn't be the hope of the Democrats. This should be the hope of everyone in this country:
That words matter.
That our elected leaders abide by their promises.

Politics is the game of winning by implementing your agenda. Every politician lies, every politician divides. Look what happened after Obama. If you think all faults lie with Republicans, you are going to lose, like you did in 2016.

I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I don't have a team. I don't win or lose elections. I'm just trying to live my life. I don't want a Cold War between the Democrats and Republicans. Who in their right mind wants that, except people who don't want a government at all?

Go after her religion in the hearings- see how it works for you.

Not enough votes.

Can they logjam the Senate with impeachment of someone? Barr, DeJoy, Ross, lots of options.

This is the Republican world view. Our Founding Fathers had a different world view- that politicians were opportunists but that ambition would check ambition through the balance of power implemented in three branches of government.

I'm not going after her religion. I'm a Catholic. This group sounds like a cult.

So it looks like the Republicans will ram through a nominee who is beholden to them to steal the presidential election after a fraudulent election lawsuit.

How can people who care about the future of this country stop this? Is the only answer massive GOTV efforts so they can't bring fraudulent litigation to the Supreme Court? Where should I spend my time and money to save the country?

This is the Democratic world view. You think you are pure and honorable, that the other side is corrupt and evil. But the truth is, we are just two peas in a pod. You are not the angels you think you are and Republicans are not the devils you caricature us as.

RGB has already been ideologically replaced on SCOTUS by John Roberts. Is the position of Chief Judge irrevocable? It would be fitting to pass the baton to Clarence Thomas.

Why? Roberts is doing a great job.

DP. I am a regular (but former) Republican voter and political moderate. I hate the Bernie end of the Democratic party. But I don't think they are actively trying to destroy the country like I believe Trump and his grifters are.

Your weak little “both sides” argument is especially crass here. Seriously, sit down.

+1 same here.

I disagree. RBG has seen it as her duty to drive for progressive ideals, to be the motivating force on the court. Roberts is worried about his legacy and flip-flops like a fresh caught catfish. The two are not ideologically similar. I as a Trump supporter respect RBG far far more than Roberts.
