Biden's VP?

Val Demings is an interesting prospect, a fresh face who could solidify appeal in black community and helpful in FL. Is Joe's appeal to the working class in swing states enough to stand for itself?

Biden/Sanders - blow everyone’s mind. I joked about it in another thread but it actually sounds less crazy now (to beat Trump).

I love her, but Warren doesn't hold enough appeal beyond educated white women voters. They'll vote Biden anyway. Biden/Sanders would be insane, in terms of two white men with serious age/health concerns. Also they would never agree and Bernie is not a team player, so nope.

I actually think a younger fresh face would help Biden, and am most interested in Whitmer and Demings right now.

Folks, it is much too early to think about a VP candidate. Biden needs to have a solid road to the nomination first. Additionally, other states and primaries may help to isolate stars that may come out of between now and then or holes in his support and also to guage his support in the swing states and how much help he'll need in those states. Trying to pick a VP now is like playing pin the tail on the donkey. The closer to the convention it gets, the more likely you'll be taking steps towards the target and eventually getting the blindfold taken off.

Just read Whitmer is under pressure to endorse Biden before the MI primary, will be interesting to see if she does so.

Worth mentioning Pete Buttigieg again.... lots of moderates like him. And I disagree that it “has” to be a woman. Although, if it was, I love Stacey Abrams.

Also, remember, it’s who he “clicks” with. A very personal choice.

I love Stacy Abrams, but Julian would be awesome.

The most logical choice, presuming Biden can hold the black vote. With the Obamas as his surrogates, he should be okay.

I honestly don't see what Amy brings to the ticket. Other than not being in her 70's?

Minnesota, Midwest, women, prosecutor, tough as nails, good life story, will rip little Pence to shreds, doesn't annoy people - she brings a lot to the table

^ That said I think it should be Harris or Abrams

Oh please. Two very poor team players who bring nothing to the table other than some skin pigmentation.

You are racist. And you've got to be kidding.

Racist are the folks pushing Harris and Abrams with zero logic other than skin color.

Gretchen is a looker, that's for sure. She very telegenic.

She's also been doing a great job handling the intransigent Republicans in Lansing. She's not afraid to swing a big stick.

Yup.

Kamala tanked partially because black people weren't interested. She thought she would skeewee her way to the nomination.

Nope.

The messaging in her SOTU response was on point: bread& butter issues all Americans care about rather than engaging directly with Trump's theatrics.

I haven't read through all the pages in this thread, so maybe it's been considered and discarded, but how do you think Andrew Gillum would play? He checks a couple of the demographic boxes and made a good run at governor in Florida -- which would be a nice state to have in the Democratic electoral vote column.

I don't think so. He proposed a whole lot of extremely unpopular ideas when he was running. I think he'd be toxic, actually, to Biden's campaign.
