LOTS of FCV, Loudoun and Spirit parents know each other. An official announcement has never taken anyone by surprise. The parents always know. Some just need confirmation to be believers. In my experience, I would pay close attention.
|
| Geez, that's cryptic isn't it? These FCV parents are either intensely loyal, or intensely afraid of being blackballed. |
Is what they know that there is a merger or that FCV is taking over, or that Spirit VA is being shut down? I don't know any Spirit parents who know, so at this point, everyone will be taken by surprise. |
Or maybe they don't know anything at all. If they did, what is the fear in saying something on an anonymous forum? Like FCV parent here: we were told Spirit is shutting down, merging with us, or nothing is happening. |
| The rumor is that the new management wanted to test the DA families to see who would scurry off to other clubs based on the planted rumor. The FCV staff came up with idea during hiring talks for the pro team, as they felt it was a good tactic to weed out unloyal apples. They are onboard with the ruse and reporting back on any DA players seeking practices or ID sessions with their club. McLean and BRYC staff are also rumored to be on board. |
| It's the Russian Internet Research Agency at work. |
That's interesting, but is it truly disloyal if a parent wants to make sure their kid has somewhere to play next year? After all, if you wait until a roster is full, then your kid gets screwed. FCV has a full load of players already, so it stands to reason that if Spirit were to dissolve, no way they could take in more than a couple. So what would this tactic actually show them? Disloyalty or having a back up plan as some on this thread have suggested? |
It was also a joke, so.... |
Oh, haha! Ok, I'm the idiot then.

Sweet baby Jesus . . . |
| After 24 pages, everything that you needed to know was written on page 2. |
| Spirit seems to have updated its website. Now the youth page includes no reference to the DA as far as who to contact, how it works, ID sessions, etc. Just an old statement about DA fees, and "DA News" which is just a link to old posts... Hmm. |
Yes, they updated their site, but you are wrong about everything else. Click the link. https://washingtonspirit.com/da/ It is basically the exact same information as before (including the outdated ID session in December for the U13 team), except with the new format and a busted link to the Interest form. I am not saying this means anything, but your post was incorrect. |
This is correct. The content is essentially the same, but there is an issue with the formatting on the interest link, clear at the bottom. The language about contacting the TD's for those who wish to join remains. The new site looks nice, but no new information here. |
Bolded sentence sounds identical to one TD at spirit VA. They will get on quite well! |
