Friday's "snow?"

So as of 8:15 AM, there are two reported bus accidents so far. Nevermind we still have another hour and a half to go for school buses to be on the road.

What a poor decision by Taylor.

A lot of accidents being reported by Mr Piringer. Two hour delay for rain but no change for legit snow and ice………….. an “educated” decision?

Look at his post history. Accidents happen without snow, too.

What a moronic response. We arent talking about drunk drivers we are talking about children being pit in harms way by the school

Why are kids in Maryland unable to go to school in precipitation, but kids in New England and the Midwest do so all the time? We have the same salt trucks they do. What’s the difference?

Do you have snow tires on right now? My grandpa in Massachusetts does.

You don’t need snow tires here JFC

Thats the difference. They are prepared and have a higher budget. We are unprepared. Zero analytical skills there pp.

Uh, no. We’re perfectly capable here to deal with this nothing burger. No analytical skills needed.

Bro, a simple look at the beltway right now proves how wrong you are. Congratulations on being an argumentative douche on the internet, though.

No place has perfect road management. In other areas, people continue to travel in these minor squalls. No one is expecting perfectly clean roads. If you’re not comfortable, stay home.

SO close!

"If it's not safe, stay home" is what you need to say there, and that would've been perfect justification for the 2-hour delay we didn't get this morning.

So am I, but the roads are fine to drive as little has accumulated and there’s less traffic than usual. I don’t understand the people who think that any form of precipitation warrants school delay.

Yes this. This is good as it will hopefully demonstrate how we don't need to close every time a little bit of snow is in the forecast.

No. We are not prepared to pay to deal with problems that come up rarely. There isn't budget for additional cleaning services, salt trucks etc to get sidewalks etc etc cleaned. We have a large immigrant populations without winter coats even. There are years it doesn't snow and there are no delays or days off. If mcps and MoCo paid enough snow cleaning contractors those here it would be wasted $.

Which is why we delay school when it's dangerous and we are unprepared. Glad we all (except taylor) learned something this morning.

Yup.

My kid texted that the bus got there on time and all is fine. Hope everyone else has a good day today

Wear boots? This is getting ridiculous.

Says the keyboard warrior from the comfort of somewhere warm, dry, and connected to DCUM? If you're here posting this, you're not out playing slip-n-slide in the ice and snow, so maybe stop being so ridiculous yourself?

Plenty of areas are perfectly passable.

So if you’re personally uncomfortable, you do you.

The roads are very much NOT "fine to drive" this morning.

He got read the riot act by the decision to delay on Tuesday by a bunch of pathetic mommies who have confused school with being child care.

He can't win.

Ya'll will whine about anything. You're beyond ridiculous.

Put on some boots, hat and gloves, button up the parka, and deal. Stop being such histrionic wimps afraid of a little snow.

+100

Delay for rain and open on time for falling snow? Already an inch here

Wow, an entire inch.

Not all of us live on flat, plowed roads!! An inch of slippery snow could mean lots of accidents. Some of us live in rural areas, and are commuting from far away. I am keeping my kid home as I work from home and it is possible.

The rural areas aren't going to get an inch of snow.

The side roads that weren't treated have relatively little traffic. People won't get into accidents. Especially not anyone with common sense.

Are you serious? People can't even drive in the rain. We're upcounty where there is an inch of snow on the ground and it is currently snowing. My kids bus was 15 minutes late today. A 2 hour delay would have been the right call for today, maybe even no school today. Ridiculous.

I'm upcounty- southwest of Germantown- and there's nowhere near an inch of snow on the ground. Where are you?

Are you going to say we need to close schools for rai. next? Because yes, you're right that there some idiots that refuse to drive slower in the rain. Probably the same people as the teachers here saying they refuse to leave their homes earlier.

We're in Clarksburg and the roads are icy. The wrong call was made today.

That's quite close to me. Roads are fine if you just slow down.

Happy for you that your roads are fine. Ours aren't.

University blvd is a major thoroughfare. It is also an iced-over parking lot this morning, and at least one school bus was involved in an accident.

Take your "you do you" and shove it. Consider that you live in community with other people, clownshoes.

DP. A lot of us are somewhere warm and dry because we already did that. I set an alarm for 5 AM to check the status. I've been at work for two hours already.

They should have done as PG County did. Announce a two hour delay with the possibility of closure.

You don't have to go far to get to Olney where it is fine.

It may surprise you to learn that people come and go throughout the day.

They’re always responding to criticism of their last weather-related decision instead of making the best call about the current situation. Our car was sliding around on untreated roads. This is so unsafe.
