A lot of accidents being reported by Mr Piringer. Two hour delay for rain but no change for legit snow and ice………….. an “educated” decision?

Look at his post history. Accidents happen without snow, too.

What a moronic response. We arent talking about drunk drivers we are talking about children being pit in harms way by the school

Why are kids in Maryland unable to go to school in precipitation, but kids in New England and the Midwest do so all the time? We have the same salt trucks they do. What’s the difference?

Even in New York where I grew up, we didn’t close unless there was 5+ inches on the ground and even then if the plows had gotten there in time, we’d have school open. There was none of the “there is ice somewhere on some road therefore no child can go to school” attitude.

"If the plows had gotten there in time..." i.e. they were expected, and you knew there were sufficient numbers of them to keep the streets plowed.

Do we have that here? NO. So it's not at all the same. Learn that.

+1

We didn’t wait days for everything to be passable.

Do you have snow tires on right now? My grandpa in Massachusetts does.

You don’t need snow tires here JFC

Thats the difference. They are prepared and have a higher budget. We are unprepared. Zero analytical skills there pp.

Uh, no. We’re perfectly capable here to deal with this nothing burger. No analytical skills needed.

Bro, a simple look at the beltway right now proves how wrong you are. Congratulations on being an argumentative douche on the internet, though.

DP. We can't close schools every time there are accidents on the beltway.

Right, because it's exactly the same as standard maryland driver incidents today. Sure, pp.

Some of y'all need to go back to school for some critical thinking skills. Also some "STFU when you're stupid" training. Yikes.

Brookeville, MD has not been touched. We are not exactly Olney but we are in MoCo county. MCPS has made two bad calls this week.

They should have done as PG County did. Announce a two hour delay with the possibility of closure.

Thanks for asking. I grew up in the Midwest, in an area that has snow accumulations much more frequently than we get here. In fact, my mother was employed by a manufacturer of snow plow blades. We had plentiful snow plows. We had tiny school districts, so there was never a time when weather conditions were very different in different parts of the district. If we had closed every time we got an inch of snow, we would have had more snow days than holidays. But you know what we didn’t play with? Ice. So we had 5 snow days my senior year of high school.

No. We are not prepared to pay to deal with problems that come up rarely. There isn't budget for additional cleaning services, salt trucks etc to get sidewalks etc etc cleaned. We have a large immigrant populations without winter coats even. There are years it doesn't snow and there are no delays or days off. If mcps and MoCo paid enough snow cleaning contractors those here it would be wasted $.

Multiple crashes on 270 both directions. Dusting covers highway lanes, especially local and exit ramps. Sidewalks are slippery.

It’s time for Taylor to resign.

Why would that make me mad? Football is important.

No place has perfect road management. In other areas, people continue to travel in these minor squalls. No one is expecting perfectly clean roads. If you’re not comfortable, stay home.

So that you can take charge? Because the DCUM mommies with their torches and pitchforks won't come for you when you make a conservative call that inconveniences them?

No, you're wrong. Football is important because it is a state championship game. Stop being such a histrionic wimp.

Which is why we delay school when its dangerous and we are unprepared. Glad we all (except taylor) learned something this morning.
