You should give stars a good bit of weight. They are given out according to guys watching games and then asking college guys for their feedback. The schools in this area consistently win more games based on the number of kids on roster who received stars, but not necessarily how many stars. The kids receiving stars also tend to go more competitive 1/2/3 schools.
Exception on Military Road for several years.

St. John's has had one bad season under Speaks. Not sure where you get several.

SJC has become irrelevant ever since Garrett Ince left for the HC job at Saint Stephen’s.

Garrett did most of the recruiting for speak and was the offensive mastermind.

SJC underestimated Garrets coaching ability and what he brought to military road program. as they haven’t had nearly the level of success since he left - FACTS.

Hopefully they can beat Ryken this year

So with this 'logic' you think he'll have St. Stephen's in the IAC finals this season?

It wasn't Speaks or Ince. It was Tasty. Put that kid on any of the other top 5 teams and they have the same results SJC had.

That’s a little reductive. The 2022 team was stacked with players that have been very productive in college - Checo, Rhoa, Figeras, etc. Plus pre-injury Duenkel. Really good team. One of the best of the last decade for this area. Up there with Landon 2018 or whatever year Shockey and Epstein were most dominant.

Subsequent years haven’t been as good. This year’s team looks pretty good on paper, but we will have to see how it plays out.

The stars rating in my eyes are 50% accurate… you could argue it’s just lax bros competing for attention and being ranked / evaluated by other lax bros.

Outside of the 5 star at GP. Landon had way more starred players: 2/3 attacks; both fogo's; the d mid; the lsm; 3/3 middies plus 2/3 2nd line.

Yes, and, is anyone claiming that GP was *good* last year? There's a reason they have a new coach and are making changes. They weren't good. Coach mailing it in.

Prep admin is making a huge push to become a boarding school, and it will backfire.

More and more Mater Dei families are looking at SJC, and GZ and even rival Landon these days.

How many of Prep's starting 5 on their basketball team are local Catholic kids (zero)
2 from Europe and 1 from China.

Where did I say anything about Saint Stephen’s being good.

Speaks relied too much on Garrett for recruiting, and he clearly is a very good offensive coordinator.

Cadets offensive was anemic in 2024 and just a joke last year.

Go beat Ryken and and pound your chest for beating Taft

There are already so many good boarding schools up north, not sure why anyone would board at Prep with all of the international students.

Weller was a very important part of that 22 team along with 3 outstanding starting attack man(go watch the St. Anthonys game - snipers). Fyock was/is great but if I remember correctly that 22 Championship game vs Gonzaga wasn't a highlight for him. That TEAM was more than one player. Ince was the FO coach that season. Giving him the OC position was a bad move and the beginning of the drop off. They will be back on top this spring.

Funny how the ones who don't have a clue keep bringing the team up. Someone still cares - time passes, envy doesn't.

Fields won’t be clear until the beginning of March. First month of games should be a tough watch as teams play catch up and build chemistry.

Clear til March? Our school was clearing theirs on Friday and a flat open field in mid 30's sunshine will melt off by the end of this week.

Already practicing. You picked the wrong school.

We didn’t need to clear the snow, it’s so hard that we are playing on top of it. Seeing the ball is a bit challenging though. The ultimate environment for lacrosse training.
