The stars are kinda BS imho. Lots of these kids let it get to their head and they actually kinda suck. I don’t give it any weight.
You should give stars a good bit of weight. They are given out according to guys watching games and then asking college guys for their feedback. The schools in this area consistently win more games based on the number of kids on roster who received stars, but not necessarily how many stars. The kids receiving stars also tend to go more competitive 1/2/3 schools.
Exception on Military Road for several years.
St. John's has had one bad season under Speaks. Not sure where you get several.
SJC has become irrelevant ever since Garrett Ince left for the HC job at Saint Stephen’s. Garrett did most of the recruiting for speak and was the offensive mastermind. SJC underestimated Garrets coaching ability and what he brought to military road program. as they haven’t had nearly the level of success since he left - FACTS. Hopefully they can beat Ryken this year
So with this 'logic' you think he'll have St. Stephen's in the IAC finals this season?
It wasn't Speaks or Ince. It was Tasty. Put that kid on any of the other top 5 teams and they have the same results SJC had.
That’s a little reductive. The 2022 team was stacked with players that have been very productive in college - Checo, Rhoa, Figeras, etc. Plus pre-injury Duenkel. Really good team. One of the best of the last decade for this area. Up there with Landon 2018 or whatever year Shockey and Epstein were most dominant. Subsequent years haven’t been as good. This year’s team looks pretty good on paper, but we will have to see how it plays out.
Weller was a very important part of that 22 team along with 3 outstanding starting attack man(go watch the St. Anthonys game - snipers). Fyock was/is great but if I remember correctly that 22 Championship game vs Gonzaga wasn't a highlight for him. That TEAM was more than one player. Ince was the FO coach that season. Giving him the OC position was a bad move and the beginning of the drop off. They will be back on top this spring.
No one cares in the context of 2026.
