Given that the Democrats were the party contesting election results before the Republicans also started doing it (this does not excuse J6 in the SLIGHTEST), I wouldn't be surprised. Certainly someone has already started this nonsense on some corner of the internet.

I'm in suburban cook county and I know a shocking number of moms in my peer group who went for Trump. They had to keep it secret from their "vote blue no matter who" parents. But retired people have an old image of the Dem party that's no longer accurate. The moms had a variety of reasons but they ALL brought up the gender nonsense that permeates the schools. Assemblies in ES to celebrate a teacher coming out as trans, endless books about expressing your gender, teaching kids about being non binary. The party has alienated a generation of young parents with this baloney.

Trump was calling Pierre ricans garbage a week before the election, called for the suppression of the free press, and for Liz Cheneys execution all in the past week. Not sure why Dems are judged on a double standard. The question isn’t why Kamala lost - it’s why did trump win despite all of his disqualifying factors including counted felonies, staging a coup, being twice impeached for quid pro quo and trying to obstruct democracy, his general vileness and all the other corruption of his first term.

And I honestly have no idea. I am completely puzzled. Trump is a disaster of a candidate. My best guess is that voters just didn’t “like” Kamala for the same reasons they didn’t “like” Hillary- deeply rooted misogyny. The war in Gaza also likely fractured democratic support, not unlike Bernie bros in 2016.

Hilary and Kamala are two deeply unlikable women. I held my nose and voted for both but neither one have a shred of likability.

And Trump is likable? Why must women be likable to be electable when men do not?

Hillary was a far superior candidate to both Kamala and, goes without saying, Trump. Brilliant, hard working, sharp, articulate, put in her time in real policy shaping roles, actually won a primary. Any man with her qualifications would have beat Trump, especially in 2024. This country just hates women and they have to clear hurdles that men do not.

This, overwhelming percentage of Latinos in this country doesn't use or like the term. NYTimes reported it's something like 4-6% that support the term. Maybe start calling people but what THEY think they should be called.

Weird. The Latino community is who came up with it in the first place, and it got adopted my many others who were tired of having to type out "latino and latina" over and over again. Shorter to just type "latinx"

Queer online communities came up with that. And immigrants overall are more conservative. Of course it wouldn't stick with them.

I worked in an immigrant nonprofit and no one there was using Latinx. Actually they were using Hispanic.
