Immigration - how is it such a huge issue in this race?

It shows the political IQ of Trump that he didn’t gut Obamacare just to be spiteful on his first day in office. He knew it was popular.

Biden and Kamala wanted to spite Trump rather than do what’s best for the country and what’s popular. They show themselves in the foot and are embarassed to claim the border czar title these days because it was an epic fail. Kamala’s conclusion was migration was growing because of climate change so she spent billions to Latin American corrupt governments to fight “climate change” to stem migration. They laughed but took the money away. Our tax money down the drain..

They not only opened the border On Day 1 as president but they openly traveled to the border to welcome people-something never done before. They were encouraging illegal entry, opening it to drugs, guns, sex trafficking, kidnapping. The FBI just quietly admitted yesterday that crime has gone up. Trump was right yet again.

When Biden signed his EOs reversing Trump’s policies during his first days in office, he claimed he was eliminating bad policy and that Trump’s EOs undermined our security

Their “root causes” strategy to stem illegal immigration is laughable. We cannot solve the problems in our own country. So, it is arrogant to believe that we can solve the systemic problems in other countries. Moreover, their root causes strategy was only focused on 3 Central American countries. Meanwhile, during their time in office, illegal immigration from South America and the rest of the world exploded. Are they going to create a root causes strategy to fix every country in the hemisphere and the world? The root cause of the border crisis was always Biden-Harris and their open borders agenda. There is always going to be poverty, corruption, violence in countries around the world. The only thing we can do to secure our border is have strong policies that discourage migrants from paying human traffickers and coming here illegally. The Biden-Harris administration undermined our sovereignty, national security, public safety and hurt communities across the country by implementing their failed pro-mass migration agenda. And then Democrats have the audacity to ask why so many voters are indicating they will vote for Trump. The answer should be obvious to them. It’s because Harris and Democrats have failed this country with their extreme liberal agenda.

First of all, Trump tried to gut Obamacare, by making the tax penalty 0. But, he couldn't get rid of it completely because it was too popular; several Rs voted against repealing Obamacare.

However, I do agree that Biden missed an opportunity.

I'm the poster who has repeatedly stated that Biden should've address the border issue the first year in office or there would be h3ll to pay come 2024. The writing was on the wall, and Dems completely ignored it.

I'm livid, sad, resigned to Trump winning in 2024 mainly because of the immigration issue. This election was Dems to lose, and they dropped the ball, bigly.

They raised our taxes yet again here because schools constantly complain about overcrowding. Meanwhile, test scores and performance continue to plummet while crime in schools gets worse. The entire public school system used be good here, but now it is in the toilet.

Keep telling us illegal immigration doesn't matter when affordable housing stocks get gobbled up by illegal immigrants who then overwhelm our schools with all the kids they send who need tons and tons of remedial work while barely able being able to speak English.

I've also been personally affected by an undocumented migrant who hit my car, and it was impossible to get his insirance to compensate me because he didn't have any, not had any permanent address. Why do law abiding citizens get screwed with our insurance rates that keep getting jacked up because there are so many illegal migrants driving around everywhere on our roads without insurance? They already broke the law coming in illegally, and have zero qualms about breaking more laws like driving around without insurance.

Yes, some really bad actors have entered as well but the bipartisan bill shot down by Trump early this year would have helped deal with that to a decent extent. We are a country of immigrants who all came here for a better opportunity. Immigrants have built this country. Now with a birth rate that is leading to a population decline, good immigration is even more important. We need hard working young immigrants because we have an aging population.

You do realize that we currently have laws in place that cb deal with this. We do not need a bad bill to address millions of people walking thousands of miles to get here. We already have laws that can address this.

Not everyone immigrated here freely

Slaves built this county, not immigrants.

Unless you are a Native American, you do realize that we are all descendants of immigrants.

Native American's also migrated here.

Trump is a danger to national security? Harris, the woman who lets millions come through the border unvetted and uninvited, is the threat to our national security.

Housing and car insurance are becoming unaffordable in my area. Yet, there are plenty of illegal immigrants. They seem to be prioritized over citizens for affordable housing units.

But they didn’t drop the ball, they fought to allow as many migrants as possible in. They got exactly what they wanted.

Harris has never tweeted out our national intelligence. Generals and IC don't see Harris as a danger to our national security.

Trump's inner circle wouldn't pass a national security clearance, yet they have seen our national intelligence briefs that Trump would show to people for his ego boost.

Illegal immigrants in our country pale in comparison to the harm Trump has caused and will cause to our country's national security.

NP. Absolutely agreed, and I say that as someone who views progressive Democrats as a national security threat as well, just not as much of one as Trump and his grifters.

It’s because the GOP want a dying economy with zero growth. Immigration is what makes our economy grow because people aren’t having kids.

Nobody wants zero immigration. I don’t mind a reasonable number of legal immigrants who can provide for themselves here. I am against mass illegal immigration. Most of the illegal immigrants are indigent and unskilled and become burdens on taxpayers.

And as for why more people aren’t having kids, it’s because it’s hard to afford children in the Biden-Harris inflationary economy. The low birth rate is proof of the bad economy and that people are struggling financially.

Well, if 10-20 million are good for growth, isn't 50 million better? What is a good number?

The country can figure out how to tackle the economy without open borders.
