Thank you for this. I completely agree. I have gotten very, very passionate about this issue recently and intend to start speaking out about it publically. Recently, I was talking to a fundraiser from the Cleveland Clinic, where a family member recently had a life-saving procedure. I told her point blank how horrified I am that a facility with the international reputation and importance of the CC now offers "sex mutilation services" to minors on a "case by case" basis, according to their website. (This is code for: yes, we do operate on minors.) She did not deny it. As grateful as I am to doctors there for assisting my family, they will not see a dime from us until this stops. |
Except women can’t get these drugs because of risks to the baby. It is extremely rare for women to be prescribed this drug when they have a hard time with milk production, because of concerns about what the baby is consuming. Women are told they need to use formula and that given the choices, formula is safer. And yet I’m supposed to believe all these concerns about the baby’s health go away because a transwoman feels her narcissistic validation is more important than the health of the baby? GTFO with that misogynist and pedophiliac nonsense. |
Yes, they do operate on minors. They do not often, if ever, do bottom surgery on minors, but yes they do breast reductions on minors, just like they do other plastic surgeries on minors. I’ve posted before, my son had breast reduction the summer before his senior year. We wanted to have input, which would’ve been more difficult as parents if we waited until he turned 18. We also wanted to have him heal and be used to his new body before he started college. If you’re opposed to surgical transitioning of any sort, you’re probably never going to come around to understanding why people allow top surgery for minors ever. If you’re not transphobic, and your first instinct without talking to someone who was a trans kid or knowing someone who experienced the transition process is to wait until they’re adults, I would urge you to listen to parents who allowed their teens to do medical transitions. In our case, it made much more sense to take the steps in late high school, in a supportive environment, with doctors we’ve been dealing with for years, and where we can monitor our child. Otherwise he would’ve gone to college with breasts, had to deal with binding, being afraid of the negative attention he’d get if he wanted to dress comfortably without binding, and have increased anxiety all the time, and that’s not even touching the issues of him having surgery while away from home as a young adult who’s never had surgery or dealt with insurance on their own. It’s not a race to lob off body parts or pump our kids full of hormones, despite what some people try to make it seem like. |
Except... he is a she. |
And you're a ^&(**&^S |
Actually one of my female friends had to have breast reduction surgery at age 17 because she was having so many back problems because of disproportionately large breasts. Allowed her to go to college and live a normal life.
It's not just trans minors folks. |
That's a true medical issue. Removing the breasts of a healthy 17 YO female is not. |
Yep. Ariel Winter from Modern Family had that procedure as a teen. |
I'm actually not. I truly a lovely person. I'm just done playing along with this narrative and cannot imagine what kind of parent would allow their minor child to have this done. |
You’d be objecting to it on an 18 YO, too. |
I think it is for the same reasons but not boosting birth rates. It is about culture wars to help Republicans cling to power through manufactured grievances and fear mongering about changing demographics and power shifts. |
And now neither of them will be able to get it done in many places. Hope you are happy. There used to be a time when republicans were for individual liberty |
Of course I would. I object to it on a 35 YO. But I have absolutely nothing to say about that, and would keep my mouth shut, since persons over the age of 18 have reached the age of consent. They are responsible for their own actions. 17 YOs have not. 13 YOs have not. Why is that hard for you to understand? |
I will not be truly happy until the truth of this horrible industry is exposed and the money grifters at the top go to prison. |
Have any of you who seem to seriously hate trans people and want to see them eradicated or banned entirely ever spent any time with transgender people? I'm asking in good faith. Because I think we all know *any* of us can read stuff on the internet and we should be taking that with a grain of salt. At least I hope we know that.
"Studies" only get you so far. They don't get you into the families' decision-making process, the work they do with the counselors and doctors and the whole team of people. It's a massively long process. But either way, I know (closely) three trans people. They are happy, well-adjusted adults who just want to live their lives free of fear and hate. I don't know why people feel the need to spread such hate. Saying "except she's a he" is just hate. I fully, 100% appreciate the concerns around how far children should be able to transition, or what the level of care is, but when you ban all "gender affirming care" you ban counseling, discussions with medical professionals, etc. They're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. What do you people expect children with gender dysphoria to do exactly? Wallow in their misery and grief? What is the plan for them? What do you propose that's actually within your level of acceptance? I'm not a trans activist by any stretch, and I see the issues that are occurring but they're occurring because we're shutting down all conversation and turning this into a zero sum game. What is the pathway forward for a child who has gender dysphoria? |
