Single Issue Voter: Controlling The Borders

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued a dire warning regarding fentanyl mixed with a flesh-eating "Tranq" zombie drug that has been seized in 48 out of 50 states so far.

In a new public safety alert, the DEA said it was warning the American public of a sharp increase in the trafficking of fentanyl mixed with xylazine. Xylazine, also known as "Tranq," is a powerful sedative that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved for veterinary use.

"Xylazine is making the deadliest drug threat our country has ever faced, fentanyl, even deadlier," DEA administrator Anne Milgram said. "DEA has seized xylazine and fentanyl mixtures in 48 of 50 States. The DEA Laboratory System is reporting that in 2022 approximately 23% of fentanyl powder and 7% of fentanyl pills seized by the DEA contained xylazine."

The alert says xylazine and fentanyl drug mixtures place users at a higher risk of suffering fatal drug poisoning. Because xylazine is not an opioid, naloxone (Narcan) does not reverse its effects.

"The Sinaloa Cartel and Jalisco Cartel in Mexico, using chemicals largely sourced from China, are primarily responsible for the vast majority of the fentanyl that is being trafficked in communities across the United States," the DEA alert added.

How do you propose to deal with this, PP, when most drugs are trafficked by US citizens?

The only solution is government sponsored injection clinics with properly regulated and measured doses. Prohibition will never work. How is this not obvious by now?

No, that is not obvious.

Government sponsored drug addiction is not the answer. Ever.

Start by closing the border to illegal immigration and putting up a barrier to assist CBP in catching those entering at place other than ports of entry. Even Biden's Chief of the Border Patrol says that a wall/fence is needed.
More drug sniffing dogs at ports of entry. They do good work.
Any American caught trafficking drugs gets a minimum sentence. Juveniles included.
And, let the pathetic president of Mexico know that if they won't work with us to stop the illegal flow of drugs, we will deal with it on our own. Start dealing with the cartels like the terrorists that they are.
And, for God's sake - stop ignoring China's role in this crisis.

Biden has done virtually nothing to stop this crisis. Instead of using the bully pulpit to slam "Maga Republicans" he should be warning all Americans of the dangers of fentanyl and this new drug. Many states have started a "One pill can kill" campaign. The federal government should plaster the airwaves and social media with PSAs about the dangers. They have more PSAs about the Covid vaccine yet we have more 18-45 YOs dying from fentanyl than Covid.

Why would we build more fences when they obviously don’t work? Do you want to solve the problem of fentanyl, or do you want to stick it to the illegals? Because they are completely different problems with completely different solutions. Not so easy as just stopping the flow of migrants.

And do you think there is a drug user alive that doesn’t know about fentanyl? Maybe there’s a handful of teenagers that haven’t seen the dozens of high profile news stories, but teenage drug use is a different problem and one that parents seem especially reluctant to want to address.

Hit send too soon. I agree with you on the cartels. Mass eradication of the cartels and anyone associated with them. Leave no man woman or child to avenge them.

Exactly two years ago today, Kamala Harris was named border czar.

And, she has exactly nothing to show for it.

I will take the opinion of the Chief of Border Patrol regarding the wall.

At the hearing, he said:
"I do not believe in a wall from sea to shining sea, but I do believe in infrastructure and barrier systems in concentrated areas, especially urban areas," Ortiz said. "And it's always been our practice, from 2006 when I was an agent in charge in West Texas to now.

And, he said this:

Tragic.

Government sponsored injection clinics? You want the government to sponsor injection of people with destructive life destroying drugs?

So glad they caught these people.

Guess where the drugs are coming from? Yep. Across the border. The cartels control our border under the Biden administration.

Federal officials said the operation moved drugs from Mexico through Washington state, Idaho, and Alaska.

“Not only are we seeing the drugs coming in from Mexico, but we’re also seeing the sheer amount of weapons that we seize, some of those are going down to Mexico to fuel the violence of the cartels down there in Mexico,” Acting Special Agent in Charge Jacob Galvin with the Drug Enforcement Administration in Seattle said.

Federal officials said in a news conference Monday the organization, which has ties to the “Aryan Family,” a white supremacist prison gang, “cultivated a business relationship with the Sinaloa cartel to import and distribute a staggering amount of narcotics.”
