lol @ "we" Russia is preparing a totally unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. There is no question who is in the right and who is in the wrong here. You can't pretend Russia isn't the aggressor here, and 100% in the wrong. |
Nobody is pretending anything. The only pretend thing here is your outrage about it, when you turn the blind eye when your country does the same. |
You might be surprised that most academics in the field research the U.S. and teach the power relations and history as it truly is. Yes, good old American professors teach your kids the facts of power relations in the world. Gasp! Meaning that YOUR (mine too) country is portrayed as an Imperialist and military oppressor! For-profit. Write a formal letter of outrage to all of us! |
Oh hon, once again Russia's gas exports are not at threat UNLESS Russia invades Ukraine. |
This!!! |
You’re deflecting. The argument is not about the US being an Imperialist country or not, or being good or bad (which are words only children use). The argument is whether or not one country should be allowed to invade and take over another. Generally, this is viewed as wrong in todays world. You do get that, right? |
I’m willing to fight for Europe if the eu Will provide all Americans that fight for Europe a secondary European passport of our choice.
Like how those Americans got honororaey French citizenships for stopping suicide attack on train |
They are attempting a classic "whataboutism" strategy. They know they can't actually defend Russia invading its neighbor so they want to change the subject and try to argue that Russia may be bad, oh, but the US is also bad, maybe worse... Russian pretzel logic is next level. They have massed their entire military on one neighbor's borders and are threatening to invade if it doesn't stop seeking to protect itself from Russia. Think about that. It is the same demand Russia is making of other sovereign states along its border, "don't dare seek to protect yourself, we would find that threatening and might need to invade you to defend ourselves." Of course then they want to play the victim and act like they are the party being wronged. |
The Russians at the Ukrainian border are simply innocent and industrious migrants seeking a better life in Ukraine. Borders are immoral and racist. Ukraine should welcome them with open arms. |
You’re funny. Is this the rule for everyone? Then half a million dead Iraqis would like a word . |
I am in the small minority in this thread, but in my view NATO expansion has been excessive. Were the roles reversed -- with Russia expanding its influence towards our borders (say, via Mexico) -- I believe that our reaction would be similar to Putin's. I agree with the points made in this lecture by professor John Mearsheimer. The lecture is entitled "Why is Ukraine the West's Fault?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrMiSQAGOS4 No, I'm not a Russia troll. I was born and raised in the DC area. |
It is good that your misinformation is in the minority here. Whether you are an actual Russian troll or just reading from the same script doesn't matter, you are part of the same problem. NATO is a defensive alliance. Countries seek to join NATO because Russia has a fondness for invading its neighbors. If Russia weren't threatening its neighbors, Russia's neighbors would have no reason to seek to join NATO. There is no comparison in the Western Hemisphere because Mexico has no fear of a US invasion. Shoot, the US security posture with Mexico is so lax we allow hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to cross our lightly defended border each year without so much as a cursory background check. |
You do have a point. We declared the Monroe Doctrine throughout the Western Hemisphere. We’ve been ever ready to invade or support murderous thugs in Central and South America should any country in our near abroad start embracing socialism. We came within a hairsbreadth of a nuclear war when Soviet missiles appeared in Cuba (despite our own stationing of nukes in West Germany). The hypocritical saber rattling is kind of cringe inducing. All more stupid when Zalensky himself is telling the US to essentially butt-out |
Oh look, another attempt not to defend Russia threatening to invade its neighbors, but to try to change the subject to something else. ![]() Why not start a thread, "I think the US shouldn't have had the Monroe Doctrine 100 years ago." |
Put yourself in the Ukranian’s shoes. Would you like to have your country taken over forcefully and have to live under a communist dictator’s regime, or live as you have been living?
Now, in order to keep the status quo would you like help? Serious help? |
