I am in the small minority in this thread, but in my view NATO expansion has been excessive. Were the roles reversed -- with Russia expanding its influence towards our borders (say, via Mexico) -- I believe that our reaction would be similar to Putin's.

I agree with the points made in this lecture by professor John Mearsheimer. The lecture is entitled "Why is Ukraine the West's Fault?"
