I agree with the thrust of your points. However, I read the article and that was an affordable senior facility in Ward 3. City Ridge on the other hand will be a big problem for Deal and Wilson. |
Specifics DO matter. Otherwise he's no better than Bowser. |
The basics are that the US Attorney’s Office for DC prosecutes all felonies (and most misdemeanors) committed by adults. There is a section of USAO that prosecutes the crimes that in states are handled by local DAs offices, and these cases are prosecuted in DC Superior Court. USAO DC also has a section that handles federal criminal cases, the same types of cases that USAOs all over the country handle, and these cases are in US District Court. Crimes committed by juveniles that are handled in juvenile court are prosecuted the the DC Attorney General’s Office. There is a small group of crimes where kids between 16-18 can be charged as adults and those cases are handled by USAO DC. |
This. People are nuts if they think Robert White would be better on crime than Bowser. He is a lefty progressive in the mode of Allen, Nadeau, and Silverman. Crime would get WORSE, not better. Bowser does the best she can given our crazy council and their insane ideas such as raising the youth rehabilitation act age to 26. |
900 units in Woodley Park, 100 to be low income. The development on Western is on the grounds of a senior housing facility, not necessarily more senior housing. And more dense housing is planned for Tenley, all of the above will impact Deal and Wilson. |

Is Charles Allen a “lefty progressive”? I think not. He’s mostly just out for himself and knows the people of ward 6 won’t elect him out. |
False. Watch the video. They were aware. |
Bowser is doing absolutely nothing, including not coming out strong against the Council's insane policies. Having Robert White make noise about crime can only help the situation. |
| Having Robert White make noise about crime will not help the situation if the only things he think should be done are more of ineffective "violence interruptors" and after-school programs. Neither works. The juveniles who choose to carjack citizens at gunpoint are not doing it because they lack recreational opportunities. They are doing it because they have not been taught right from wrong and are not being held accountable in any meaningful, deterrent way for their actions. |
How horrible. I actually walked by this after the carjacking - the police were there, and I heard the father screaming "my baby's in the car!" I actually thought he was getting arrested and was worried about a child in the car, because the police were kind of holding onto him. I realize now the child and mom were in the stolen car. I hope all those people who are walking by while she screams at least called the cops? I can't imagine not stopping if I heard that. (And yes, I did stop when I heard the father screaming, but there were already multiple cop cars there at that time). |
TY. So it's basically DC (not the Feds) under-charging and under-prosecuting gun and other violent crimes (when the police can make a case, already difficult). If these crimes are prosecuted, our Council has set it up so that anyone under 26 (and let's face it, most crimes in the city are by this cohort) gets quite a lot of 'chances'. Our Council does not seem to care about the actual rehabilitation, halfway homes, or supervision/education/employment--just making sure these perps are adjudicated in line with current thinking about criminal behavior and brain development. So, our homegrown crime wave is our creation and ours to solve. |
No one to the right of a lefty progressive goes on Twitter to eulogize criminals after they carjack a victim and also offer criminals moral cover like claiming carjackings are linked to the weather. That is a progressive initiative. |
| Really enjoying Allen getting ratioed on this tweet: https://twitter.com/charlesallen/status/1490796286458712066?s=21 |
