| It would be nice, if we the majority, could somehow have these people removed from office, declared mentally unfit to serve civilized society. The overwhelming danger to the public is too great to allow these people to continue in their roles. |
And since DC voters keep electing more of the same, replace the entire lot under federal control. |

Latest carjacking with a child in the car just blocks from Allen’s house.
Crickets. |
But he tweets PSAs about bad batches of fentanyl? How about PSAs on how to not get jacked? |
| the city needs to be under federal control again |
+1 I am thoroughly against statehood. With that though, can someone explain to me who prosecutes what crimes in DC? I have heard a lot of "but the Feds" to explain our dismal prosecution rates. Who does what, for example crimes with guns? |

Listen to this woman's screams. This is the carjacking where the child and woman were in the car.
This is our city now. Shame on our elected officials. https://mobile.twitter.com/MeredithLiberty/status/1489113901698584580 https://mobile.twitter.com/alanhenney/status/1489123569124663301?cxt=HHwWioCzxeL_tqopAAAA |

Statehood is about the last thing D.C. could responsibly handle. |
What fascinates me is that the same people who are usually the most vocal advocates for statehood are also the people who are the most admanant that it’s inappropriate to compare to DC to other states on any metric. I actually would welcome statehood for DC, because it would end DCs special status and put the city on equal footing with other states in competing for federal resources with only two junior Senators and one Congressmember. Pretty sure that is not going to turn out as well as people think it will. |

Horrific. So were these recent crimes against parents and young children in DC https://www.fox5dc.com/news/woman-assaulted-while-walking-with-5-year-old-child-in-southeast-dc https://www.wusa9.com/video/news/local/father-says-baby-daughter-has-19-stitches-following-brick-attack-in-capitol-hill/65-75614a24-6448-4a6e-a787-b28d29ca1a31 https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/dc/dc-father-fights-off-alleged-armed-carjacker-with-daughter-in-backseat/65-79003549-6c00-4583-af8e-f921718e8a6e |
| There's a lot of blame shifting among DC "leaders" - when does someone stand up and fix the real problem, crime?? |
DC had a big drop in population in the past 2 years, I expect that to accelerate. What impact will some of the housing policies have on Deal and Wilson which are already over capacity? https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/02/02/new-affordable-housing-hptf-ward-3/ It was one thing to tolerate DC crime before I was a parent and when DC was cheap to live in. Now, the calculus looks different. Then much crime was after dark, now carjackings by kids with guns can and does happen in broad daylight. My CVS store has lost a lot of staff, one manager had his jaw broken by robbers. The basic fabric of society is rended when safety and order are not prioritized. |
Mentally unstable? Or criminal? A twice-deported Mexican citizen with a 15-year criminal history was arrested for allegedly drawing swastikas at Washington, D.C.'s Union Station, but reportedly does not face deportation under the Biden administration's standards for arrest or removal. "The criminal who defaced Union Station with antisemitic symbols, Geraldo Pando, should not have been able to commit this act of hatred. He is a convicted felon and an unlawful migrant with a criminal history of deportations and arrests, including for assault on a first responder," Sen. Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican, told the Washington Examiner. Geraldo Pando was arrested last month and charged with the display of certain emblems and defacing private/public property, the Washington Examiner reported. He allegedly drew the swastika symbols one day after International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime. Pando, 34, has a 15-year criminal history, including a 35-page criminal history in Colorado for crimes stretching from possession of drugs to misdemeanor theft. He had been detained by police earlier in January for vandalizing the U.S. Capitol Police headquarters, a senior Senate aide told the Washington Examiner. He was released, however, because ICE did not ask for him to be held until he was in federal custody. "It is inexcusable that ICE did not process him and he was released back into the community to commit such a heinous crime," Portman told the outlet. "This administration’s poor policies and reluctance to remove criminals from our streets continue to result in additional harm to our country." |
