Crime on the hill - Charles Allen has got to go

Anonymous
I have a really high tolerance for city life but the crime in Ward 6 is out of control and Allen is doing literally nothing. It’s so frustrating.

What’s he supposed to do?

Get more resources (police and non) for ward 6? He’s the flipping councilmember. He does literally nothing. He’s great on other issues but he’s about to lose my vote because of this.

Lol like he needs your vote.

Charles Allen has no interest in reducing crime. None.

His constituency is the woke advocacy groups. He dutifully and submissively implements their agenda, and they promise to be less mean to him. They won’t, but he is ever so hopeful.

He's not doing nothing. He's providing justifications for property crimes and hiring constituents to be violence interruptors.

You know no one takes you seriously when you describe anything as woke, right?

I agree with this. But I have also had it with crime. A woman was punched in the face and robbed in broad daylight yesterday. Multiple car jackings and shootings. And things are bad on the hill but way worse in the rest of the city. Allen is, at best, making things worse with his excuse-making.

He has been getting more resources. You all sound really dumb. Ultimately, it is up to the MPD to run the police department. That falls under the Mayor.

He's the head of the safety committee, so no, people are not dumb for complaining about him specifically. He and his metrics approach are creating more violence, more victims and more to overcome for those he claims to care so much about

I actually really like Charles Allen and think he is a nice guy and effective councilmember. He's also pretty smart and not batshit crazy, so that puts him out ahead of 75% of the council. That said, I think he will start to feel the tide turning in W6 in terms of safety being the overriding priority of his voter basis if violent crime keeps ticking up. He got caught off guard by the flip against the WTU/school closures when people got fed up, but he caught up quickly and flipped sides... I think he'll do the same here. He has pretty good political instincts.

Lol, crime on Crapitol Hill has been a problem long before Charles Allen arrived on the scene. I know he's DCUM's favorite whipping boy but get a grip.

This. I am a long time supporter. But he needs to get his act together on this.

Same here. I think he is paying attention.

There was an armed home invasion on Friday afternoon in Forest Hills. They caught one of the perps, who was 14. Any media report this? Of course not.
