School board reckoning?

They should just fire all the white people and then encourage the public not to vote for anyone white. Hold to their beliefs.

Well, McAuliffe seemed to think there were far too many white teachers.

Remember his plan to pay for tuition and room and board for HBCU colleges if there would be a commitment to teach 5 years?
He said that 50% of Virginia students are of color--but I didn't see him offering to pay room, board, and tuition for Asian kids.

We dodged such a bullet this election. Thankfully the SBs did their part to get Youngkin elected.

Voting against the party that ruined out kids by prioritizing unions, and who are working overtime to indoctrinate school chiodren into compliant little leftists is a very productive and positive way for rational citizens to handle their emotions.

Someone sounds like an extremist and it’s not the leftists lady…

Not either PP. But, the SB did bow to Teachers' Unions. And, they were pushing "equity" and "anti-racism."

Wait. Is anti-racism a bad thing now?

You want to *keep* racist policies?

When math is considered racist, they’ve entirely lost the plot.

They are angry their kids didn't go to school last year.
End stop.
If you can't handle your emotions, how do you expect your kid to?

Voting is great !! Everyone should agree.

Voting is great.

The bolded is not because:
1. There are no unions in VA much less any that are prioritized. THis is misinformation which is why we have schools, so kids can be smart and understand when they see misinformation.
2. The language here “indoctrinate” “compliant”. No schools teach kids to think critically, which may be different that the way you think and you may want to stop that in your child, but it doesn’t mean kids aren’t taught to think critically.
3. I agree, but your words and arguments aren’t rational.

DP

1. I think most of us know that there are not any "official teachers' unions" at this point. However, FCPS School Board seems to recognize them and follow their requests. They have publicly supported them and have pledged to begin collective bargaining this school year.
However, it seems that our SB did listen to Kimberly Adams this year and followed almost all requests--except, perhaps for requiring all students to be vaccinated before we had in-person classes. I think that even Adams pulled that back because it was a step too far.
So, if you do not believe that the SB prioritized union wishes, you have not been paying attention.

2. If you follow the training that adminisitrators were given and read the "equity" proposals, you will know that the rules have changed. Go take a look at the 'equity" material.

Right now, they’ve been asking for parents to review curriculum resources. They’ve had similar reviews of materials within the year. I bet very few of you have done that. Have you served on a school board advisory committee? Played an active role in the PTA or countywide PTAs like the special education one? There’s so many ways to be involved but it takes some effort and might not make you famous.

I vote for people who can do it for me - so I don't have to do it all myself. That's how I try to outsource.

Okay, so you don’t want “parent’s rights.” You just want to elect the people who oversee the schools. Which you already have and the election is in 2023.
So your vote for Youngkin was based on nothing.

That's the problem with "anti-racism." It is anything but being against racism. It looks at everything through a racist lens.

why do Republicans think Dems should be just happy if candidates are black or Latino? Like oh look, they are a POC, so be happy! See...diversity, now be quiet.

Does it bother you when minorities don’t agree with 100% of what you believe?

I hope you realize the irony of your giving the term "CRT" the narrowest meaning possible, while construing the term "anti-racist" as expansively as possible.

However, I'm quite sure PP was using the term "anti-racism" in the same sense as some of the CRT practitioners, which entails race essentialism, a profound antipathy towards "whiteness" (as defined and redefined by CRT proponents) and a commitment to ongoing discrimination against Whites and "White-adjacent" groups to benefit "oppressed" classes.

Lol. You sound like you’re not from around here. Let me educate you as I’ve lived here for 50 years. FCPS was in its glory days under republican oversight. The republicans put FCPS on the map. Liberals are systematically destroying the fairfax schools.

LOL. With this past election Dems thought Blacks and Latino should just happy if a candidate was Democratic (McAuliffe). Turns out they weren't. See...bad campaign, now do better.

This was the year that Democrats formally ceded the high ground on education. Their anti-education policies have begun costing them.
