I guess if he’s spending months banning something that doesn’t exist, he can’t screw up the rest of the state.

You’re partly correct in saying that it doesn’t exist. Critical Race Theory, by name, is not a part of the official VDOE curriculum. You will not find it in so many words on the VDOE website. What you will find, however, are other references and statements to Equity, Cultural Responsiveness, Inclusion, etc,…all designed to slip it in under the guise of other parts of the left-wing agenda. Some of the larger school districts in Virginia are implementing CRT in the same, surreptitious manner. Fairfax County hired Ibrahim X. Kendi to give a speech to FCPS teachers regarding “anti racism”…and paid him thousands of taxpayer dollars. It also distributed copies of lesson plans based on the 1619 Project to all high school teachers of US History. These are the inconvenient facts that shouldn’t be ignored.

And some of us don’t have a problem with the topics you listed above.

Lesson plans based on the 1619 Project, which serious historians have criticized as riddled with errors and dubious claims, should not be circulated to Virginia schools. Hannah-Jones isn’t an academic; she’s a bitter, hateful, left-wing polemicist.

Well our current curriculum white-washes history and covers up important facts.

FCPS is minority black if anything we should be more concerned with the Asians and Hispanic, the blacks are fine

And those individuals are not discussed in our history at all.

We Asians just want to stop discrimination against us for tj and colleges , we don't care about history so shove it

+ 1000. Who cares if America started in 1619, 619, or 2016. We don't care. Besides, multiple versions of "History" are available for free on the internet, youtube and tiktok. People will eventually find their "truth".

Americans should care about American history.

I guess someone who feels like home is *actually* some other country regardless of their citizenship, they would naturally have no investment, emotional, intellectual or any other kind. If it’s just somewhere you are living to extract benefit and you would happily move on to the next spot when you’ve gotten everything you can, you don’t care about how the history is taught and how that can affect it’s future.

Nobody minds more voices in our history curriculum. What they mind is oppressor / oppressed stuff. We Ds need to be able to call out radical left stuff as too much - to get the good changes.

Democrats are total hypocrites. They'll keep a Langley HS free of any economic diversity, but they'll call other people racist if they don't want to accept the radical left POV in classes at Edison HS.

I don't disagree.

There’s a middle ground, you know, where people are happy and grateful to be Americans but focus on the future and don’t want to wage constant battles about the past by engaging in proxy wars over what constitutes “true history.” They are smart enough to know that gets determined by whatever groups happen to have the most political power at any particular moment.

It is, however, clearly on the DOE website as a resource and information is presented. It's been there for some time.

So what? This isn't Gilead. Or Beaumont, OK. This is America. Why are you afraid of information? Why the need to "ban" information? Information is just that. And the role of that information -and in what form and when and how- should be up for discussion.

It's not being taught in school - full stop. If Youngkin wants to spend his time and capital banning something that doesn't exist, fine with me. Less time that he's focusing on really important issues and screwing those up.

I wouldn't "ban" anything. Just get new people in the VDOE and elect new local school board members who'll stop actively promoting garbage pedagogy.

Oh please, you (or one of your kind) is complaining about the information even being posted for people to see. That's banning.

You are the worst kind of snowflake. Let me guess, you use words like woke and complain about "cancel culture"?

Why? We’re you embarrassed when McAuliffe got votes from blacks even less likely to have college degrees?

Dems only love the “poorly educated” if they vote blue.

Democrats want everyone to get an education.

Dems want everyone forced to go to government schools that they control, which is why they are so threatened by the idea of vouchers. As long as only the rich (or middle class who can sacrifice enough to scrape up the funds) have a choice in their children’s education, it’s all good.

Yes, I want my tax money to pay for public schools, not subsidize your private school tuition.

By all means. That doesn't prevent me wanting my tax $$ back as school vouchers.. See how that works?

Mmkay. "Want" it all you like. Just know it's not going to happen.

Actually, it’s just better judgment, applied without issuing edicts.

Go take your meds.

I don't want Trump and his far right supporters so I vote democrat but that doesn't mean that I want Sanders and his bunch either. I want schools to focus on teaching kids and not worried about being the base platform for everything equal. We cannot legislate equity in schools, it doesn't work that way. Title I schools have different issues that have to be addressed to improve the kids access to education and close the gaps. Changing the standards for kids at not Title 1 schools hurts those kids and does nothing to help the kids at the Title I schools.

Which is going to matter more to them in 30 years, your kid's social well being, or what they learned in geometry or chemistry class? How often do people use the latter in everyday life?

The people that invented the computers and wi-fi you posted this with tend to use these type of subjects.

What percentage of the population are those people?

When did anti-education become the Democratic platform? The last 1.5 years has made that clearer than ever.

And even more so today.
Yes, Democrats are anti-education. Hence we have fear and violence plaguing our schools, and teachers who can’t visit a toilet all day, not to mention students who are too afraid of getting attacked to go into a bathroom stall. Unbelievable.

This rings 100% true. Poor families should not be forced into good for nothing bad schools.

I was just mentioning the same thing. When did dems start hating academic excellence?

The biggest democrat parents I knew in the 90s were the original academic overachievers and pushed their kids harder than ever knowing education was the key to a great future. Strange that these same people and their successful kids couldn’t figure out that they couldn’t will others to be like them through school policy.

Huh, when did Dems start banning books or making it a crime to teach actual American history?

I’m sorry that your little snowflake feelings got hurt but “white people have done some bad things and LGBTQ people are people” isn’t “anti-education.”
