Is it time to have the difficult conversation about masks and MCPS?

PP keeps providing vaccine misinformation, and I don't understand why.

Here is what the vaccines do:

1. Greatly reduce your chance of getting infected by SARS-CoV-2
2. Greatly reduce your chance of transmitting, if you get infected
3. Greatly reduce your chance of getting seriously ill, if you get infected
4. Greatly reduce your chance of dying from covid, if you get infected

All 4 things.

And to say the vaccines don't work because we need boosters - that's just plain silly. I hope that PP doesn't forgo their regular tetanus booster.

Bacăuse PP thought she was one and done and somehow missed all the news that even before approval said that vaccines will be annual

But behave better? I think that's the policy that a certain poster on this board is espousing. Perhaps the best thing we can do is try to get in touch with Biden/Machin and see if they'd be willing to re-purpose the $2T toward basement digging. It'll still be BBB...but, in this case, it'll be Build Better Basements.

Maybe if you stayed in your basement and were more responsible we would not be in this mess. There is no distancing, no hand sanitizer or much else beyond masking at mcps. Biden has handled Covid very poorly.

Let’s set aside the question of whether it is, or was ever, possible to eradicate Covid. Regardless, you presumably understand we’re not going to. So what’s your plan?

It is possible but we never tried. Other countries did and were successful.

Again, setting aside whether it is possible, you seem to know we’re not going to eradicate Covid in this country. So what’s your plan?

Which countries have successfully eradicated covid?

New Zealand and (at least at one point) Australia came close, but only through *true* near-total, police-enforced lockdowns and mandatory 14-day quarantines in state-run facilities for anyone entering the country, and almost complete isolation of their island nations. But in the end, even they couldn’t manage eradication.

To be fair, at least this one isn’t also anti-mask as well. But it sounds like they’re not so much anti-vax as pro-fear.

Most people are vaccinated so screaming about anti-vaxxers is silly.

However, many people are still getting covid vaccinated. And, they don't know long term but the effictivness isn't what we were told long term.

You get a booster. I did my part in doing two shots. I do my part by staying home, and when I do go out distance and mask.

Sadly, we cannot do it because selfish and entitled people aren't willing to, like you.

At least they tried, and their numbers are far better than ours. We are doing one of the worst especially give we have vaccines.

Again, the rate of breakthrough infections in Maryland is 0.12%. https://health.maryland.gov/newsroom/Pages/Maryland-Department-of-Health-releases-COVID-19-post-vaccination-infections-data.aspx. Stop with the many vaccinated people are getting COVID. 0.12% is not a lot of people. It means that out 1000000 vaccinated 1200 got a breakthrough infection. That is not a ton of people. Stop just stop already. I have had to post this on every page of this thread. And you keep coming back with this asinine misinformation.

One breakthrough case in MCPS with no masks can cause an outbreak. You keep minimizing how serious covid is. Breakthrough cases can be just as serious. And, as time goes on there will be more breakthrough cases. So, you just stop already with your misinformation about vaccines and masking and stop putting our kids and their families health at risk.

Please cite your evidence where one breakthrough case at any school in any state or country led to an outbreak. My post is pro vaccine. Vaccines work. You keep harping away that lots of people are getting breakthrough infections. You have no evidence and nothing constructive to add to the conversation aside from idiotic conjecture and fear mongering.

Multiple high schools in MD have had outbreaks and most of those students are vaccinated. Therefore they are these "breakthrough" outbreaks.
