Oh my, this is hilarious. Do you really think a critical mass of Dems will vote for an anti-vax, Trump-supporting, anti-abortion Republican out of spite, even though public schools are open full time statewide because our current Democratic governor made it so?

I’m going to Not out of spite but bc of a lack of trust and concern or what could happen in the future

Yup. That is the GOP “concern” machine in action.

Bathrooms!
CRT!
Math!
School closures!

And we have APE trying to slip a couple of those in there…interesting.

This is such a silly post. Are you really trying to equate the debate over math curriculum with CRT and use of bathrooms by transgender students? It borders on offensive that you would trivialize bigotry toward black and transgender students like that.

The anti trans people are part of APE too. It's not a nice group of people.

Literally no part of that response is correct.

Definitively not a moderate! I have little faith in the neoliberal politics of Arlington democrats, but I would vote for any dem in a heartbeat over a republican who is creating a manufactured crisis around CRT, closing schools, vouches or whatever nonsense Fox News and co are floating. All of this is a distraction and OP is playing into it.

Some of you have no shame about spinning politics and misinformation. But to what end?

I don't want Virginia to ban masks in schools or crazy sh*t like that if Youngkin is elected. Let's stay sane please.

Exactly! And masks are the least of my concerns (and I believe in masks) in comparison to abortion rights and LGBTQ rights. Let’s focus on getting the election and then worry about who funds APE.

APE might be polemic in Arlington County, but let’s make sure we don’t elect anothera fascist!!!

We could be the next Texas with the heartbeat law.

That doesn’t mean APE as a group is anti-trans or that all of its members are anti-trans. There are people in AEM with some pretty atrocious views, does that mean those views should be attributed to the whole group?

I’m not trivializing anything.

Just listing out some recent “concerns” that the GOP has been pushing.

Okay then get out the vote! The governor can protect our most vulnerable students.

Op here.

I haven’t seen APE make any anti-trans comments. That’s really a nonstarter in Arlington.

We shall see though what issues they push as November approaches.

There's a difference between (1) AEM, which is just a FB page that anyone can join and (2) APE, which is an organization that is a 501c4 political entity.

It’s all related. APE is trying to insert itself into the gubernatorial election right now.

NO WAY do I want an APE member on the School board after seeing their crazy attacks last year on the School Board and on AEM. And now continuing on DCUM.

No f'ing way.

A lot of my opinion about APE and its right-wing roots stems from what I saw on the Twitter feed (relating to January 6) of one of the men pursuing that lawsuit. If he and his efforts are not part of APE, I would be interested in knowing that.

This was covered extensively at the time. The man who filed the lawsuit is/was a member of APE, but APE specifically declined to participate in or support the lawsuit, in part because much of APE’s leadership specifically disagreed with his lawsuit.

The man who filed the lawsuit was/is a member of APE, he fundraised for his lawsuit extensively on APE and a lot of APE members donated to it. And yes, he also tweeted his support for the Jan 6th insurrectionists.

APE "officially" wasn't involved in the lawsuit and they stated that. Basically they wanted to have it both ways.

Nope. This is asked ad naseum in AEM. Not involved literally. Like not at all. Did member in APE donate to the lawsuit? I dunno, maybe. But leadership that it was dumb and refused to be involved. Anyone else find it ironic who is constantly trying to bring a manufactured crisis to Arlington? APE doesn’t engage in CRT, bathrooms, banning books, because those are stupid manufactured crisis issues. I’m not in APE per se, whatever that means. But I do know a few that are and several of them (in fact most) are very, very liberal or at least Dems. What is driving this desperate attempt to constantly malign them. Even last year they were totally fine. No one was freaking out at school board meetings, despite the desperate attempt by some to paint APE like the crazies in Loudon.

They were absolutely freaking out at SB meetings last school year. April IIRC.

Why did APE reorg as political lobbying entity?

Why are they pushing misinformation about a VDOE math initiative *during* the gubernatorial election? Early voting has already started.

Why did they start pushing school closures as an “issue” today, again *during* the gubernatorial election?

Who are they going to endorse in the upcoming elections?
Anonymous
Yup. It was the April SB meeting.

I think you are misinformed, because there are no APE members on the school board ballot.

They haven’t made any endorsements. But that doesn’t change the fact that there are no APE members on the ballot. If you believe I am wrong, please identify the APE member on the ballot.
