Very interesting shift in tone.
School members members sound like they are done with APE. The APE speakers were angry and even a little scary. Very riled up. |
The first APE mom made me feel bad for her kids bc they are struggling, but it’s clear her attitudes making it way worse. They were parroting what they hear at home.
The one dad was a bit scary. I’m a bit concerned about hi and the SB members. If you won’t stop clapping when asked repeatedly, don’t be surely when teachers say your kids are disruptive and don’t follow rules. I CANNOT believe the audience members shouted over another speaker from a different side. So gross. I don’t this APS has done every right and I’m glad that K is going back 4 days, but those parents make me want to stay far away from anything APE related. |
They shouted over a Latina mom who said her community had not been heard, does not want to go back in person because they're trying to survive, and is being used by others to justify opening. |
I thought the statements by Gabriela Uro, Tania Talento and Board member Cristina Diaz-Torres were especially impactful. I thought that the audience members' continued disregard for the rules, and shouting down Ms. Uro as her time expired, were especially distasteful. |
I felt like the kids were being used as props and was cringeworthy. |
That APE mom who said her daughter was animalistic right in front of the poor little girl.
Just awful. |
It’s not just APE, it’s all sides with all issues when it comes to disgusting attitudes in the APS community. We’ve had kids in APS for 10 years and the parent community has just devolved over that time. Between the crazies (IRL and on social media) and lost faith in APS as a system, we’ve decided that we will apply to private high schools for our youngest in 2 years. It’s a shame, really. I’ve always kept up with SB meetings and APS planning and issues, but I just can’t any more. It’s just crisis and anger any more. |
It's pre-k, not K. |
Yup horrible. |
and the audience = APE members. All riled up from their little rally. |
To be clear, the shouting wasn’t because she was Latina or anything like that, it was because the school board was letting her run over the two minute limit when they held everyone expressing a different view strictly to the two minute limit. I’m not part of APE and I think they are extreme in their views, but it very much came across as the school board selectively enforcing the rules based on the content of the speech, which is extremely problematic. |
The angry APE guy who called out Ms. O'Grady by name and told her to resign.
These people have no shame. None. |
At some point, does Miranda realize her base is killing her chances with any sane voters?
