IF Whitmer is the pick, he decided he was willing to risk dampening POC enthusiasm and prioritize swing voters.

So... Biden is making smart and strategic decisions. That’s great.

This is such a copout pick. She is a Governor like so many others such as Raimondo and Lujan Grisham. What makes her special?

One word=Michigan (plus broader Midwest/swing state appeal). And yeah a safe pick is pretty much a cop out but when has Biden ever been a risk taker?

Whitmer is a huge risk. She is untested and inexperienced on a national level. She has little Foreign policy or corporate experience. Her DH seems unhinged.

And if he wanted to prioritize swing voters and POC he could with a pick of Demings. Florida is far more critical of a swing state than Michigan.

Demings is much less experienced than Whitmer. He needs to balance electability and governing concerns. Whitmer is not the best pick in either category imo but she balances both categories effectively whereas most other candidates are strong in one or the other.

She’s emerged as a star governor during a pandemic and manages a 447 billion dollar economy. Other than Rice there is little to no direct foreign policy experience among the prospects. Obama didn’t have it either.

Her DH seems unhinged? Lol.

Whitmer is a first term governor who has served half her term. Before that she was in politics in Michigan (not exactly the largest state). Id not call her far more experienced than Demings. And she is far less experienced than several other candidates.

Oh she’s more experienced than a police chief of a small city who’s served a few years in the House for sure. Of course some others are more qualified, but she meets the bar. I never thought Demings did. We also don’t know whether the fourth Black woman being considered is Demings or Bottoms.

Your missing something. Demings has life experience. Her story is very compelling. She can relate to those who have little education, are religious and believe in the 2nd Amendment. She also as a POC and a Police Chief has a unique perspective on BLM. Meanwhile, Whitmer is being sued by churches. You do realize it’s those who have high school educations, believe in the 2nd Am and are regular church goers that we need to swing?

Whitmer did not allow landscaper work nor garden centers to be open in Michigan. No common sense. I had 5 mows done and the crew/staff wore masks plus went to a garden center once and the Home Depot once while all that was closed in Michigan.

I like Corey Booker. I don't care if he isn't a woman. I don't care about his ethnicity. Nice he's Black but that's secondary to him as a person. Clinton made a dumb choice in Tim Kaine. I'd have preferred Booker or if she went VA, Warner.

Whitmer has been praised for her pandemic response. I realize many misogynistic red necks were bothered by having some bitch tell them what to do, but most intelligent humans agree she did well.
