Protests on college campuses

I am a true blue Democrat. I can’t stand what these protestors are doing. First, they are lending support and legitimacy to Hamas, a terror organization. Second, they are making a Trump victory more likely in November.

+1 And I can promise you they weren't askibg for food, water, exam waivers, etc. while protesting, nor were they given any by college administrators.

So the schools finally took action - eviction from housing, barred from campus, no exams, no graduation for seniors and grad students. Some of the suspensions will likely turn into expulsions as they did at Vanderbilt. In any event, the affected protesters will have their lives altered - from jobs to grad school to income to visas. Guess they'll have time now to globalize the intifada.

Can they do so legally?
I suspect that a lawsuit is on its way, the protests have been largely peaceful, legal
ACLU will probably take up their cause

Why not? One does not have to be violent to break rules and laws.
If these students refused to leave encampments when directed - if they violated campus rules - if they prevented others from accessing public parts of campus - they violated rules. Just like someone who violates the honor code. No violence, but violations, nonetheless.

You are confusing, right to protest and right to strike and right to free speech is guaranteed
some access to parts of campus during the legal protest was restricted is not a violation of honor code
These protests have been largely peaceful and the students were within their rights

I am not confusing anything.
The right to free speech does not mean you can restrict the movement and rights of others.
They have no "guaranteed" right to free speech or assembly when they are violating school rules by creating encampments.
These students believe they can take any action, as long as it is not violent, couch it under the "right to free speech," and be free from consequences.
That is not how it works.

The majority of protesters could not even ID Gaza on a map.

Even if you tried to argue that their presence did diminish, in any way, the legitimacy of the protest, Israel has such a vibrant, lengthy reputation for cosplaying other groups through false flag operations to achieve its own goals that it would be impossible to discount ANY protest, no matter how much it might be disagreeable. That’s what happens when one side operates without integrity. Nothing they say is believed without extraordinary investigation, follow-up, and analysis because of their track record.

You sound like a robot. Did AI write that for you? Why are American students supporting the Middle Eastern countries that treat women like doo-doo and make them hide their bodies/ hair in hot tents

I don’t know, why is every single American administration?

The school year is over on most US college campuses. What will you focus on next?

how can anyone in this day and age with online videos/pictures support Israel?

Zionists stole land and then attempt to re-write history.

And then the Zionists cause the Palestinians as terrorists. Come on, what would you do if your home was stolen by invaders??

Israel has been a country for 70+ years. Time to move on.

Do you know who the first occupants and invaders were thousands of years ago?

There are obviously strong feelings against these protesters. I would challenge those that feel that this way to consider WHY. Why do these students feel so strongly that they are risking their own suspensions? Is it that they are evil? dumb? If you think objectively, neither is the case. Why do they trigger you so strongly? Instead of criticizing them on an anonymous message board, isn't it better to understand where they are coming from and if they have any legitimate points that should be considered? The fact that the protests have continued so long on some many very different college campus is enough that people shouldn't dismiss them.

Science and documented history shows that:

1) Both Jews AND Palestinians are close genetic cousins.
2) Judaism pre-dates Islam.
3) Many (not all) Jews left the region for Europe and interbred there with Europeans.

What does this mean? It's clear: the people living in the region who were Jewish either left, converted, or remained true to Judaism.

What does that mean? people with Jewish ancestry do have a historical tie to the land, but that tie is not any stronger that then Palestinian tie.

I am Jewish through my father. I do not feel I should move to Israel and live there. It makes no sense to me that I could, but a Palestinian whose family owned a thriving fruit orchard cannot.

They are bored, terminally online, privileged, and coddled. They are doing this for much the same reason MAGA got behind Trump - their lives are too good, and it's made them lazy and overly comfortable, so they've decided to FA and see if things get more interesting.

If they had to work. If they had families. If they had any challenge at all in life, they would be working on that instead.

The Vietnam protesters had skin in the game. They were going to be drafted. These kids are addicted to TikTok and never had to work for anything in their lives. Their biggest problem was they had to go to school online for a year and got overly scheduled for soccer games. Now they have all the answers. Give me a break.

And I say this as someone who wishes Netanyahu was gone. Is horrified by what is happening in Gaza. Has no idea what Biden could be doing differently to thread the needle between supporting our ally and not subsidizing Bibi's desperate bid to keep the war going so he won't be kicked out of office. I don't have the answers. I'll tell you what - these kids don't either.

Nope. Choosing to be belligerent and disruptive doesn't mean we have to listen or agree with you. That is bullying and coercion.
