I think it was twofold. To establish that she has a history of lying and that she really did want the money, so I guess More about lying |
| What question did the jury ask? |
Something has to have set the foundation for that, though. You’re not allowed to introduce prior bad acts as evidence of the separate alleged bad acts without further foundation for how it is relevant/privatize of whether she committed these specific alleged bad acts of defaming Depp. |
Legally I have no idea. But I know that is what was conveyed to the both the jury and court of public opinion. I think Amber heard herself either open the door or testify about it which made it admissible. |
The question related to Finding Instruction C, which relates to the op-ed's online headline, and specifically asked whether question (3) (whether the statement was false) was asking about just the headline, or about the entire op-ed. The judge's response was that the questions went specifically to the headline, not to the rest of the op-ed. If we want to read tea leaves on that, I think there are a number of different ways the question could be interpreted. |
That's something else that doesn't make sense to me. She seems to have done things that would put her at risk. Why?? |
Victims are imperfect |
This. I wish more people on this thread understood the "perfect victim" fallacy. |
I remain puzzled by this issue, given the discrepancy between the op-ed and the headline. |
There are victims and then there is Amber Heard. |
DP, but I completely agree. It’s so harmful to abuse victims to perpetuate these stereotypes because all they do is let abusers get away with their abuse. The arrogance of them also really bugs me. Every single person here who questions why an abuse victim wouldn’t do exactly the right thing at every turn has done things wrong at times in their own lives. They’ve made bad judgment calls or acted out of fear/anxiety rather than rational logic, but in their own minds their mistakes are justified and excusable. But they don’t show nearly the level of compassion or empathy to others that they expect to be shown to them. |
Puzzled by which issue? |
So imperfect that she yells "I didn't punch you, I was hitting you" "Tell the world you're a victim, see how many people believe you" |
Yes, so imperfect that she may have tried to physically defend herself when he punched her. |
But she did file a countersuit which will extend the mess and cost the county more money. |
