But this is not over. It’s not 1991 anymore.

Source? I heard the opposite.

Trolls post lies. Where is the link? Manchin is a no.

Saying you believe Ford but you don’t think Kavanaugh did it = you don’t believe Ford. I call bs on trying to have it both ways in not disparaging a survivor yet being unwilling to hold the nominee responsible. I believe Ford and therefore I believe K is not qualified to be on the Supreme Court.

- NYT Editorial. Biased source you might say, but in this instance, I completely agree with them.

One thousand percent.

He came in basically saying, "I deserve this appointment and waa waa you're trying to take it away from me." Petulant and entitled.

My sense, too. He really has an arrogant, entitled air about him. “I got into YLS!”

He has been wrongly accused of horrible acts. He is not going to be calm and dignified. He’s mad as hell at this crap. And, yes, I would be very contemptuous of the Senators who managed to turn this hearing into a fiasco. I do not blame him one little bit.
And, the NY Times? Full of crap.

I’m sorry but I don’t think he is innocent. I find his assertion comical.

So you’re willing to ruin a man’s career and reputation over an allegation? An allegation that is uncorroborated and mostly refuted?

I think there is evidence. Medical notes. Judge’s book.

There is no evidence. It’s not a trial. It’s politics. I doubt anyone’s mind was changed today. Everyone just brings their own baggage and projects what they want to believe.

This will just get the republican base out. The Dems were already go8ng to vote.

Just you wait til November. Women will not forget.

Women have sons, brothers, and fathers, too. No woman wants her male family member destroyed over stuff like this.

Exactly. -A Woman

I looked at my beloved son today, and thought, if you ever so much as disrespect a woman -- let along sexually assault her -- you're toast. So no, most women aren't just sitting around holding up the patriarchy.

I feel the same. I also don't want them accused falsely, and we've cautioned our kids and grandkids about drinking and being in situations that are likely not safe.

Exactly. Drinking leads to all kinds of stupid, regrettable behaviour that gets kids killed and injured all the time. Add in bro culture...

Didn't someone say he is being blackmailed because he is homosexual?

Probably threatened by Tantrum. Graham changed after a golf outing with Tantrum.

Most men whose lives are “destroyed over stuff like this” are destroyed because they did it. I’m raising my boys to men who don’t rape. I certainly didn’t marry a rapist.

Remember this next time your kid is going out to a party: "A party isn't a party without alcohol."

I'm with the 80%. Republicans have proved over and over that power is more important than anything else and worth any cost.

I'd say that Feinstein belongs in your description, too, and she's a Democrat.

Until she implied that Leyland was mentally ill or drug addled with her cryptic comments about her health. That was the first time through all the testimony I thought Ford could be a cunning liar.

Good point.

All she said was “health challenges” and “health treatments.” There was nothing implied about mental illness or drug addiction. My best friend just had a double mastectomy and needs to start chemo next week. She wouldn’t want to get involved in this circus right now either.

'stuff like this'?
by that do you mean:
attempted rape, binge drinking/aggressive behavior, bragging about sexual exploits in a yearbook which demeans specific women and sex with women in general, and lying about it to congress because (i guess) he believed they had no right to ask you about it

if my son/husband/father did these things, now or even in their past, i would need them to show actual contrition, attempt to apologize to victims, and generally be responsible and remorseful for their behavior. after that, i would not expect them to get a supreme court nomination, and probably would discourage it based on their struggles with alcohol, at a minimum. but frankly, i would be shocked at this behavior from the men in my life, no idea why its considered 'normal male behavior' by many people...

Um...do you feel the same when a woman's life is destroyed by accusations of being sexually promiscuous, etc?

Squi aka Chris Garrett was K's football teammate and also Ford's boyfriend.

Exactly. What do you think is the percentage of women who have suffered a sexual assault vs. the percentage of men who have been falsely accused of sexual assault? All of this worrying is utterly misplaced.

Lots of people’s minds were changed today. Ford looked credible, sane. Kavanaugh looked volatile, sounded crazy (blaming the Clintons? The heck?)
