+1 My thoughts as well, and I would have been there for my husband, just as his wife was there.

Is there a comprehensive list of all the lies he made during the testimony? I would like to see that.

Raise your son properly and you should have no problem. What's so hard about that?

Yesterday is proof that your statement is not true.

Kavanaugh was raised to be polite to women in public and act like an animal in private with them. He went to a HS where toxic bullying was the norm--half of the football team was allowed to publicly proclaim their membership in a sexual conquest club--Hard drinking was allowed, even encouraged. Raise your son to be a violent ambitious animal and this is what it produces.

The thing that stood out most to me about yesterday’s hearing was Kavanaugh’s temperament. He was surprisingly unprofessional IMO. For someone who is being vetted to sit on the SC, his partisan and immature retorts say a lot about him. He is a sitting federal judge - he is supposed to be impartial, balanced, and have good judgment. I saw none of those things yesterday. He could’ve defended himself while maintaining the integrity of his current position and the position he is hoping to obtain. Instead, he seemingly reverted back to the immature, entitled boy who is the subject of the hearings. What he displayed yesterday is fully consistent with the person Dr Ford described and his yearbook entries.

Landon must be happy..lol..

?? Why would Landon be happy? I guess because it makes Prep look bad? That’s ridiculous, no one feels that way. My son is at Landon and I’m very happy with how Landon is handling this and their continued education of the boys on issues of respect, consent, etc. They absolutely have made a commitment to changing these stereotypes. I know Prep has done the same.

Exactly. What has been done to him is horrible.

I’ve seen by partners of major dc law firms who have done inappropriate things towards me or reporting what I saw at prep or Landon parties in the 2000s.

And the other partners in the DC law firm - did they investigate your allegations about the DC law partner, did they hear you out and take you seriously, or did they close ranks?

Showing anger during his opening statement is one thing. Showing extreme contempt, rudeness and arrogance during the questioning is quite another. His inability to calm down and answer the questions - especially for a Supreme Court nominee- was outrageous. His character clearly showed through, and it wasn’t good.

Of course his wife was there. What choice did she really have?

Did you watch his 30+ hours of testimony 2 weeks ago?
Yesterday he was there defending his reputation, his integrity and his livelihood. He was facing people who had called him “evil” and a “danger to all.” He was facing people who had proudly and publicly said, “I believe her” before hearing any testimony. He had every right to be angry. He had every right to show his fury at these ridiculous charges.
And, no, he could not adequately defend himself without showing his outrage. Had he done that, you folks would still say, “Look... he really is guilty. An innocent man would have more anger.”
Face it - NOTHING he did would please you.

Those of us who are thinking and psychologically-balanced adults can see that he is innocent. We don’t base our opinions on emotion. We base it on evidence - of which there was nothing corroborating her story. In fact, all evidence presented disputed her story.

What struck me was how straightforward CBF was in her testimony. I'd like to get a hold of the transcripts and count how many times CBF said "yes", "no", "correct", "incorrect"....

Whereas Kavanaugh was NOT direct. When asked yes or no questions, he would not answer them. He would go back to his prepared line about being the top student, got into Yale, was on the sport team, etc. etc.

She seemed honest, he did not. She had nothing to gain. He has everything to gain. He had several people come forward to state he's a belligerent drunk.

I think he drank too much and may not even remember CBF.

The Rolling Stone story, the Duke lacrosse team, and Kobe Bryant.

+1 Thank you for mentioning the types of situations and accusers with mental health issues that many posters here want to avoid remembering. Just as not every man is honest and emotionally stable, neither is every woman by any stretch of the imagination.

Many of us never believed the Duke LAX accuser. Rich white lax players wouldn't touch a stripper with a ten foot pole. But Kavanaugh is different. A rich white girl from HA is quite different than a AA stripper.

Reasonable people (ahem, Dems) don't draw party lines when it comes to assault allegations. We keep an open mind.

This is the most laughable statement I have read here in weeks. Seriously.

Not reall Franken’s gone! You elected a know sexual harasser/assaulter to the Presidency.

Anonymous wrote:I thought the very last lines uttered by Kavanaugh were so hesitant and tortured. He was asked a series of very simple and very direct questions and used so many qualifiers. Did he do it before God as his witness. The honest response of an innocent man would have been “no.” I don’t understand what he was trying to piece together, but he couldn’t just say “no.” The response was worse about the other accusers. He said if it had happened the whole campus would’ve known. This is a non-response.

The tears for Dad at the beginning come from Kavanaugh’s personal shame. His Dad warned him about his debauchery, lewd, and criminal behavior in high school and college. A question like “what would his Dad think of him and these accusations,” would have gotten to the truth. Probably also would have left him in a puddle of tears.

The yearbook is extraordinarily damaging and demonstrates exceedingly poor judgment. I was in high school around this time and remember how many friends interested in public office would steer clear of anything remotely damaging. Pre-social media we talked about things being on “your permanent record.” These included photos with alcohol or drunk people, and damaging information in the Yearbook.

Keep in mind your Yearbook is how you wanted people to remember you at a time where there would be almost no other record of what you had done as a young person. It was edited by peers and faculty. Bragging about sexual conquests, smearing the reputation of a woman named Renate, and bragging about drinking were the things Kavanaugh wanted to have memorialized in a Yearbook, in the DC area no less. His priorities and values are and were very clear.

Like many people who lie, he overstated. In the opening statement he said he had never been at a party like the one described. We are to believe he never went to a party in high school where young people were drinking?! It is literally all over his yearbook. He bragged about it. Kavanaugh is simply not credible.

I’m sorry, but the more I think about this, the more I feel that it is bizarre that we are seriously considering someone’s high school yearbook while deciding on confirming a Supreme Court Justice. It’s not 17-year-old Kavanaugh being confirmed. It’s mid-fifties Kavanaugh.

Much like the gratuitous Twitter mobbing, the Alt-Right will being digging through the high school backgrounds of prominent liberals and allies and begin hoisting them by their own petards. Suddenly, they’ll start changing their tune and refusing to “give in” to the mob, just like they did with Sarah Jeong.

At the very least, this guy has got a violent temper and a lack of self control that makes him temperamentally unfit to be a justice. There are allegations of blackout drinking at least up through to law school. As time goes on, more will come out. He didn't suddenly stop this behavior in HS. Apparently, people have just looked the other way with this guy because he's smart and was an athlete Prominent liberals that have been found to engage in behavior much milder than this have resigned their positions--see, Al Franken, etc. it should be investigated by a non-partisan agency: the FBI.

FFFFFolks...this is about votes. Don’t believe the hype. The Repubs don’t have them. FFFFFlake is undecided. Sasse is a wild card, and I highly doubt that Murkowski and Collins will vote “aye.” Manchin will follow their lead. Maybe to be kind, FFFFlake will vote him off committee, but then ..... So Beern ‘n Tears will get his 48 and the memory of his going down swinging performance. Colonel Graham had his moment too. Like some weird, southern fried right wing Mr. Rogers.

It’s all beside the point. His lying about the memos is enough to disqualify BK.
