I am still within the 2 week window for travel insurance. If I purchase it, it will cost $400, and then I’ll get my money back for cancelling for any reason (minus $900, I believe). So I will be out a total of $1300 between the cost of insurance plus the Co-pay or whatever they call it.

So what do I do? Buy the insurance? What are the chances that Disney cancels this? No way in hell am I getting on the ship. One of my kids has asthma and I do not want to screw around.

Honestly, I think it's a pretty low chance that they'll cancel. Worst case scenario is that they might have to cancel a port but the cruise will go on. I am not an expert that is just my own opinion. Take it for what you will.

I have never seen a cruise canceled except for severe tsunamis.

The Diamond Princess, the cruise ship with a 10% Coronavirus infection rate and a mortality rate of 1% (now officially the Blood Mary ghost ship of the cruise industry), isn't even being decommissioned.

They're stripping the linens, towels, mattresses, and bedspreads. Putting the drapes and carpets through a thorough cleaning and disinfecting everything. That's it. With it taking cruise passengers again starting next month.

My brother is getting married in Florida (Palm Beach) the first weekend in April. We don’t live in DC anymore but still have a ten hour drive down there... I think my parents are freaking out that people won’t come to the wedding — not because of any financial loss for my brother and his fiancé, but because they’ve been planning this for so long.

Aww, that's one where I feel bad for the couple.

If flights are being cancelled etc and more than 50% of guests decline - I'd really be calling people up by the 10th of this month, I'd see if I could cancel everything - venue, catering, reception hall. At the very least with 2 weeks notice you should be able to get 80% of your deposit back.

Then just have a courtroom or small chapel wedding with close family and head off on a fabulous honeymoon.

Welp. The Northshore School district has 33 schools, 22,000 students and 2,100 employees.

Interesting that Chase Sapphire reserve travel insurance specifically mentions that it does not cover epidemics and pandemics.

Starting to see some great flight prices and travel packages. Prices are definitely dropping.

Paris, Sweden, Bulgaria, UK and Malta April 1-14? Bulgaria to Malta isn’t a real airline (wizz air) so that’s a concern. Other airlines are air Malta and American.

Flight on Friday to get to Maine to ski....

My parents (early 60s) are going to Portugal for the last week of April (from east coast). I am getting mmore and more nervous about it. One has some not totally understood health issues but not related to the immune system. Other is fine and hearty, and never really gets sick. Thoughts?
