Gun store opening next door to Franklin Sherman Elementary in Mclean

And if this was an elementary school, would you argue that it's a damn shame that all the teachers don't come with weapons and wouldn't it be convenient for them to just buy one on the way to work? Come on. just stop.

Weren't you ever a scout who learned to "be prepared"?

I was on the fence about this discussion, but after the senseless shooting today, I've made up my mind. The gun shop should be a minimum of 1 mile from any school. I picked 1 mile arbitrarily. But if a kid can shoot a bunch of kids, we should make it very difficult for any kid to have access to guns.

1. What would the one mile do or prevent?
2. And are you on board for the same rule for banks (actual places of crime) and alcohol/beer stores which cause drunk driving killings?

This would be a good day for right-wing whack jobs to STFU.

Truly grotesque watching them use a gun massacre as a reason for more guns. Losing faith in humanity....

in just 2015, we’ve had 274 days and 294 mass shootings

another NRA lover.

who is supporting the gun store

who voted to close the government as another spineless politician

What is your obsession with banks? Bank robberies are dangerous because the robbers have guns. Are you starting to see a pattern here?

It was interesting to see the local Democrats who did not hesitate to condemn the gun store's location near the school: Foust, Murphy, Favola, Sullivan, Simon, Strauss, McElveen, while the Republicans were silent or did their usual "no bad guns, just bad people" number. And this was before Oregon.

This store has to go. Gun stores need to be in a remote area. Getting a gun should require an extensive background check as the one required for getting a job in law enforcement. Guns have one function and one function only, to kill. People trusted to own guns should be ones who can get security clearances.
