Gun store opening next door to Franklin Sherman Elementary in Mclean

Anonymous
I just heard this. It's opening tomorrow at 1389 Chain Bridge Road. While I don't have kids at FS, I do live in McLean, and don't know how happy I'd be about a store right like that opening right next door to the school. I'd want more distance---not sure how much is enough, but in a building that abuts next to the school cafeteria it seems like that's too much of a potential problem. Any thoughts?

Cherrydale all over again....

I just saw it today. Was wondering if I never noticed it before. As a mclean parent, I'm very surprised we didn't know of it coming to town. Can we complain to someone? Is there a way to get it out of here? I know everyone loves their guns here in VA, but I'm shocked a gun store opened here.

I could be imagining things, but I think it may, in fact, be the same business that tried unsuccessfully to open shop in Cherrydale.

Have just received an email saying that there will be a protest at the opening of the store at 11am tomorrow.

This is so absurd. It is like 100 yards from the school. Do you think there is any chance of ousting it? I'm guessing the lease is already signed.

Schools are ubiquitous around here so it's almost impossible to not have a gun store near a school.

If it were an ABC store or a hooks bar, would you be equally outraged?

Well, one side benefit--those who have restrictions that they cannot come within X distance of children and schools cannot go there to buy a gun.

Does anyone know who the landlord is?

Read the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

Hahahaha! Are the British coming back to claim their land? How about you read a newspaper and tell me how many people died because of irresponsible gun owners.

They are relocating from a building a block and a half away from the new location. I'd rather there be no stores selling firearms but they were already in the same general area.

They tried to open the store in Cherrydale. The community made sure it did not happen.
