Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

I love my J.crew Campbell Capri. Will not give them up ever!

I guess being 48 I am "middle aged". I work at a school and am frequently either outside or in a hot classroom. I'm not allowed to wear shorts to work. Skirts in very hot weather aren't necessarily very comfortable and long pants in 80 degree weather? Forget it. I'm lucky to have great calves and ankles so enter capris/cropped pants. Comfortable and a step away from shorts, but honestly I don't care what anyone thinks or if they "do anything for me". I just need to get through the day. I'm wondering how old the OP is.

I think the OP is a nasty, middle aged, unemployed man.

I am a middle-aged woman - probably “old age” in some of your minds.
I wear capris regularly.
I couldn’t care less what you think about how I look in capris.
I wear them because they are comfortable, versatile, and much cooler in hot weather than long pants.
I will continue to wear them and you can continue to snicker and tell your friends how you saw a middle age/older woman in capris.
I am sure your friends will care deeply.

That's ok: I'm old, not skinny and often wear short shorts. The rest of the world is not my problem.

Because we don't care what you think.

Middle-aged men with bad legs don't seem to care what others think about how they look. Their scrawny, weak, hairless bird legs are right there for everyone to see....yet they don't seem care.

The original capri pant thread.

Because it isn't just loose ones that are the issue...

LOL. Whenever this thread comes up again, I always think back to this exchange from a first-season episode of Will and Grace:

Grace: What you said about Jack was pretty harsh. What do you say about me behind my back?

Will: That you should never wear capri pants.

And I think he was right! For whatever reason, I cannot picture Debra Messing in capris, and she is slender and gorgeous. But I think they would look "wrong" on her. And this has also made me feel more at peace with the fact that, for whatever reason, I too am one of those people who they just look STUPID on. I am tall and thin and I can wear just about everything. But NOT capris. NO NO NO. I am 39 with nice legs and it will always be shorts for me. And if someday those no longer work, I will switch to loose linen pants or something like that.

But congratulations to those of you who like the way you look in capris -- and to those who don't care but wear them regardless. Good for you. Everyone should wear what they want.

It's that time of year again!

Oh, you just had to drag this old thing out again didn't you? But, yes, that time of year has arrived. Capris weather! Yay!!

Thank you for continuing this important discussion.

So ... ankle pants, yay or nay?

Someone is committed so much to anti-capri's they revived the thread? ha. I look bad in them, but they are just so much cooler. Am surprised they are still being sold in stores for the spring/summer.

Yes, what about ankle pants? How do you where them? (if you aren't petite and thin...)
