The bots are working overtime. Kidnapping babies??? Just stop. Facts matter. |
He was kidnapped by plain clothes law enforcement of some kind, probably illegally, probably with no warrant, no probable cause, no due process. This is dictatorship in action. They will come for you next if you don't keep quiet, says the dictator. Chilling. Horrifying. Nazi Germany II. |
DP. It's not nearly as clear cut as you suggest. Khalil acted as a negotiator and sometimes spokesperson for CUAD (Columbia University Apartheid Divest). CUAD explicitly and officially issued a statement supporting Hamas and 10/7. As quoted in the Times: “We support liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance,” the group, Columbia University Apartheid Divest, said in its statement revoking the apology. The group marked the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by distributing a newspaper with a headline that used Hamas’s name for it: “One Year Since Al-Aqsa Flood, Revolution Until Victory,” it read, over a picture of Hamas fighters breaching the security fence to Israel. And the group posted an essay calling the attack a “moral, military and political victory” and quoting Ismail Haniyeh, the assassinated former political leader of Hamas. “The Palestinian resistance is moving their struggle to a new phase of escalation and it is our duty to meet them there,” the group wrote on Oct. 7 on Telegram. “It is our duty to fight for our freedom!” https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/09/nyregion/columbia-pro-palestinian-group-hamas.html |
The only people who consider this kidnapping are the extremely online left. They are unhinged from reality as usual. Like other 90/10 issues where the extreme finds itself on the side of the 10%, ridiculous hysterics do not help the cause. Focus on how there is lack of due process. Focus on our commitment to the first amendment. Focus on our support of legal immigration, which Khalil did. All that might move this into an issue with general support from moderates and conservatives. But all this whining about “kidnapping” of someone who celebrated 10/7, an event where babies were actually kidnapped (assuming you aren’t a Hamas denialist), just alienates people who could be persuaded of this wrongness of this. I know you won’t listen. The extreme left is very good at alienating everyone else with their absurdly overblown rhetoric. |
Any one else would describe the events as kidnapping if some one else was taken in this way
Just because you dislike what he was doing, doesn't change that fact. |
That's pretty damning, honestly. I hope the Democrats have enough sense not to jump into this. |
I give up. Keep on with your enthusiastic attempt to alienate everyone but the extreme online left. You know a lot of moderates and Republicans might actually be interested in trying to do the right thing here, but you sound so crazy that it’s easy to believe that you aren’t in favor of doing the right thing. |
Democrats: |
Speech you don’t like is still protected. They cheered when Elon promised them free speech (before he was part of the government). |
From a NYT article quoting a retired Colvin Professor
”What’s happening on this campus — or to this campus — is not about protecting Jews,” said Marianne Hirsch, a retired English professor and Holocaust scholar whose parents were Holocaust survivors. “Pro-Palestinian speech and activism does not mean a lack of safety for Jews,” she added” |
This man was a Columbia graduate with an eight months pregnant wife. This is terrifying and no wonder we have a terror problem at all with the mentality that you just mentioned. What if you were taken from your home at random thanks to your religion? That used to happen to Jews not even 100 years ago you know. You’re supporting a Zionist Gestapo |
People never learn from history. Trump’s Ice is authoritarian and fascist |
Is it damning? I’m not sure if there is a law permitting deportation just for speech in support of a terrorist group. |
That's why people have to speak up now The noose only tightens the lingerthis goes on. |
There is. Look back 2 pages. (VII) endorses or espouses terrorist activity or persuades others to endorse or espouse terrorist activity or support a terrorist organization; |
