It is not my business to have a vision on who would control Syria, and it isn't Israel's either. |
Syria Post-Assad Vacuum Has Become a Shooting Range for Great Powers said The Wall Street Journal. |
They are next door neighbors with a tumultuous history, to put it mildly. It's more their business than yours. |
And that may be a good enough case for bolstering internal Israeli military defenses or border fortifications. Preemptively attacking a neighboring country to make it effectively demilitarize belies more than defensive intent - it's the naked grab for military hegemony. Considering the history of Israeli aggression against Syrian land and targets, it's Israel that has been a consistent threat to its neighbors. Not the other way round. |
Syrian US paid "Al Qaeda rebels" and ISIS were fighting Hezbollah and each other
Israel is on "enemy of my enemy" is my friend timing, but this has consequences. Trump will inherit this mess and will have to calm down this civil war and the Ukrainian war if they dont asassinate him. The deep state is dead set on a new cold War/WW3 against China, Iran, Russia. |
So you admit the end goal is for Israel to annex and take over Syria? The idea was to make it a "failed state ran by Jihadists" so they can take it over. Saddam Hussein was right when he said Israel wants the entire Levant. |
My end goal is simply to improve the security and further the interests of the United States. I have no idea what Israel or the US govt's end goals are. In this context, I certainly won't complain about a US ally gaining more control/power at the expense of Jihadists. Seems like a win for the US to me. |
Well I guess Israel disagrees with you - and it sounds like you do think it's your business. How interesting the only time you think it's your business is when you get to jump on Israel for not cowering and disappearing the way you wish they would. |
DP Since you’re accusing others of picking on Israel, shouldn’t you share why you’re defending Israel’s policies and actions? |
It's crazy how America is supporting and celebrating an anti American, Al Qaeda spin off group to become the government in Syria.
We go against our own interests to serve Israel's. |
Trump is on the right track based on his recent tweets, and is opposed to this coup and still on his America first wave, but would it really matter? The alphabet agencies are going to take actions in Syria without presidential sign off just like they always have. Does anyone think they are asking Biden for permission? |
So you want Israel to annex Syria despite Israel supporting Jihadists in Syria who at one point were fighting against the US, Russia, and Syria? You should realize Israel is not an ally to the US, but a hostile country just like you think of any other Middle Eastern country. I'd argue they are the most hostile in fact. |
lol of course it disagrees with me - judging by the maps it is passing around, it would like to help itself to chunks of Iraq and Saudi Arabia as well. Hey wouldn't that serve US interests? I mean who the hell do these sand monkeys think they are? Ruling themselves and their countries? The nerve! |
Curiously, Israel has not eliminated Hamas nor did they ever plan to. Netanyahu and Cheney and Rumsfeld were talking about Syria in 2003. What's going on in Syria was long in the making, and had nothing to do with 10/7. 10/7 just helped Netanyahu avoid jail and bolster Israeli nationalism so that a crazy crackpot plan like a minority group taking over and annexign the entire Levant can occur. Israel is going to overextend itself and the United States, and find itself in a jam with Netanyahu. Hamas sees Israel is on a suicide mission thanks to greed and hubris. They cannot fight and take over the Gaza Strip and West Bank let alone Syria and Lebanon and Iran, and they are highly unpopular among Gen Z Americans so who is going to fight this war for them? Our intelligence agencies and their intelligence agencies best days are behind them |
Not really. It's in our interest to see the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia diminished in the region. Which they are. At the present moment - and this could change very quickly - the new leadership in Syria seems fairly sane. And if the baddies like the hardcore Islamic fanatics come to power, they won't have the weapons - from chemical weapons to artillery - to be a nuisance to anyone else - thanks to Israel and Turkey. It's all good at the moment for the US. |
