This makes absolutely no sense

If it was a drug deal gone bad, then why would she call the cops to meet her at the drug deal. Also, people have enhanced video showing that there were multiple people at the scene. I truly want to believe her story and I feel really bad that everyone is so quick to jump on her mental state of mind.

Link? The enhanced video I saw seemed to only show her.

Agreed. This is the enhanced video shown on WBRC Fox6 News, and I only see her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDmIOwbnDlY

That's just someone playing around with editing images on the web, and they don't even profess otherwise.

Check out the professionally enhanced video released on the news here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDmIOwbnDlY

No second person. No other car.

Thank God she’s alive and ok.

I think I'll pass on her being my nurse.

What happens to the $$$ from the GFM?

She was driving a Mercedes at 25 while working at a spa. Maybe she has champagne tastes?

Scams for GFM $$$, if that is what it turns out to be, is not a mental health issue.

The family specifically requested not to have a GFM. They asked people to donate to CrimeStoppers instead.

"Carlee planned to party with some friends over the weekend which included a new guy she met online. Carlee would eventually meet him on the side of the express way, ditched her vehicle as well as her belongings, got into a grey sedan with this mystery guy and ended up at the Red Roof partying with a group of people.

The Red Roof manager noticed Carlee as one of the people in the group and alerted the police. Carlee and the mystery man left the Red Roof soon after and a nearby doorbell camera spotted Carlee getting dropped off around the block from her home shortly before arriving back home. (Allegedly)

An alleged person who was with her posted a comment on a video stating that Carlee is going to state she had a mental breakdown and that she was wandering around for 2 days.

This is just what the streets are saying. Y’all think it’s true?"

If this is the case, there goes her career in nursing. How are they coming up with this stuff? Why would she need to deceive her family like that, just to go to a party? There are easier lies - this would be deranged,

This seems plausible. Obviously, there was no toddler, so she either hallucinated that or just made it up. Which is pretty messed up, so I hope she was having some kind of lapse in judgement.

It’s not “obvious” there was “no toddler”.

Uh yeah it is. Otherwise the police would still be looking for this wandering toddler. They obviously don’t believe there was a toddler wandering down the highway.

Unless you work for the Hoover police department, you’re guessing. It’s ok to admit you don’t know everything.

NP. This happens on ALL of these threads. People create these crazy narratives as if they have some special insight - mostly just to trash people. It's disgusting.

There’s no special insight being claimed. It’s just pretty obvious there was no toddler on the side of the road. Except apparently to you.

Be sure you figure it out, you online detective with no critical thinking skills.

To me, a hoax seems totally plausible. Staged abduction to get a payout from the family, and then she had second thoughts and changed her mind. Really f’ed up if IF it turns out that way.

Couldn’t she be arrested for that?

She is home with her family. That is great news. I’m personally going to hold off on drawing any conclusions until we know more.

I’m also going to guess the police department knows there is no immediate risk to the community or suspect at large or else they wouldn’t be holding off on an interview. If it turns out this was some sort of hoax for attention or fundraising then that will be dealt with. If it was a mental health issue or just a 20-something snapping under the pressure of career and religious family, then I hope that will be handled somewhat privately (obviously she is now Google-able so she’ll never totally get her anonymity back).

I wish the best for this family as this gets sorted out. Any potential consequences will eventually come if needed.

At the discretion of the officials involved, yes, with decisions made in the full context of the situation. And no, those decisions about whether or not to prosecute do not have to be explained to the general public.

Motorists' dashboard cams pickup something on the peripheral edge that a driver may not notice (bc they're focused on the road and driving), but enough of a tip to rule out something?

The report I read is that the lady left work and picked up food. Curious if they can check security cameras to verify the timeline and also to see if there are anything dubious (people, fellow customers, other motorists, car following her).

+1. I don't know this area at all, but dragging a full grown adult off the highway and into your car is not something you do on a whim. I'm wondering if she was targeted from when she stopped to pick up food.

This doesn’t seem likely. How would someone follow her from a food spot, know in advance which direction she’s going, get way ahead of her on an interstate (overpass?), then use a child to lure her? All within 10-15 minutes of leaving the food place? Doesn’t sound plausible to me.
