It says the family wants to know why no amber alert. One criteria for an amber alert is a suspect and or a tag/license plate. They have neither so that’s why one wasn’t issued. Just an fyi in case others are wondering too

She is an adult and not eligible for an Amber Alert. Her family is wondering why an Ashanti alert, which is for adults, was not issued.

All those alerts require the person to be in a car. Amber, Ashanti and Silver

I’m not saying that is a good idea I’m just explaining.

MPD frequently issues Silver Alerts with no mention of a car.

Maybe from a distance it looked like a child but when she got closer realized it was a petite adult. A person 4’9” - 4”-11” could appear from a distance to be a little kid especially at night.

This is terrible and I hope she is found.

Runaway. Too convenient that she was on the phone with relatives and left all her apple devices in the car.

Yet another person completely oblivious to the dangers to women and human traffficking. This is scary.

Not from an intestate in this part of the country.

This is horrible. I don't know if my first impulse would be to call 911 if I saw a toddler on the highway. I might have jumped out of my car first and called 911 after.

I hope they find her and the toddler soon!

No one would mistake a petit adult for a 3-4 year old, which is how she described the child. Someone planning to forcefully abduct someone is definitely not above using a child in this way.

Agree. Her family (on the phone) heard her scream after asking if the child was OK.

God, this is awful.

Her name is Carlee Russell.

My heart is breaking fir her and her family, when she was the Good Samaritan.

Twitter says it’s organized human trafficking. That this is a tactic. This poor child, too. And other kids, who people will be unlikely to help.

The article I read said the she (Carlee) was on her phone with her brother's gf and the brother's gf said she heard Carler ask the child if he (or she) was ok. The gf said she never heard the child respond. Just screaming from Carlee. Then silence, but the phone wasn't disconnected bc the gf said she just heard interstate background noise after that.

Sounds like she fell

Are we sure they weren’t hit by a car?

Stop spreading disinformation. She called 911, and her car was found running. Her wig was on the side of the highway. She’s a nursing student, so her good deed makes sense.

Oh I just read about the eye witness. Yikes. Kidnapping is rare but sounds like that’s what happened. I would unfortunately guess serial killer/crazy rapist instead of human trafficking. Human traffickers generally operate by exploiting/lying to vulnerable women, not kidnapping them.

Hey folks, reminder that if anything happens on the interstate, do not stop and get out of your car. Drive to the nearest exit where you can get out safely and call 911.
