Woman missing after reporting seeing a toddler on the highway

I know it’s been a tough experience for them. When we think it’s time to sit down and have a conversation with Carlee and try to get some facts, we’ll do that.”

And you have no investigation ongoing for a missing toddler, nor do you have any direction from the police department to be on the lookout for suspicious activity / a reported description of her abductors / anything at all with any urgency ongoing at that point.

I guess you can take all of that and make of it what you will. I suppose some people are going to make things of it that don't seem supportable at this point to others, but such is life.

Most of all, Chief Derzis is happy that Russell is safe. “Just know that the police department is very happy,” he said. “We wanted her to come home safe and sound - and we’ll hope that’s what happened here. The investigation portion... we’ll get to, but to me the main deal is making sure that she got home safe with her family. And I couldn’t be more excited, and I hope the community feels the same way.”

So basically a 25-year old wanted some strange D without getting a lecture from her conservative family.

It’s sad that she had to stage her own kidnapping to accomplish this.

There has been absolutely no indication whether this involved an intimate partner or not. Honestly, there are many possible reasons, and that is one -- just one.

Yes, let's wait for more details first.

I have a feeling we will never really know what happened.

I am glad she is alive.

I am always disheartened when any woman feels like she has to do something crazy to change her situation.

I know. I suspect this makes it a great time to talk with our own kids about what to do if they every feel trapped or overwhelmed, and to reassure them that no problem is too shameful or embarrassing to ask help for from their parent.

A drug deal gone bad from some sketchy dude she met online. Carlee and her brother's girlfriend (and probably other friends and extended family) were involved. Too embarrassed and illegal to come forward when it went sour.

This makes absolutely no sense

How has it changed? She’s back with her family, where she was to begin with.

This sounds like a poorly made attention seeking plan.

If it was a drug deal gone bad, then why would she call the cops to meet her at the drug deal. Also, people have enhanced video showing that there were multiple people at the scene. I truly want to believe her story and I feel really bad that everyone is so quick to jump on her mental state of mind.

Could this be a “15 minutes of fame” kind of thing? Wanting to be social media famous? That’s very cynical of me, I know. But she is indeed famous right now.

Link? The enhanced video I saw seemed to only show her.

I know it’s cynical, but I had similar thoughts and wondered if she’d be criminally charged with false police reports. The whole thing is just so weird.

As others mentioned, if there was foul play the police would be looking for a suspect/s and the public would be informed of a possible threat. That’s not happening. Her story was fabricated or she truly believed it to be true, both indicate a mental health issue.
