Woman missing after reporting seeing a toddler on the highway

The last few pages are mostly people making stuff up and in a mean spirited way - jumping to conclusions with a clear bias.

It's more than the last few pages. It happens on every single thread like this. Disgusting people.

"Carlee planned to party with some friends over the weekend which included a new guy she met online. Carlee would eventually meet him on the side of the express way, ditched her vehicle as well as her belongings, got into a grey sedan with this mystery guy and ended up at the Red Roof partying with a group of people.

The Red Roof manager noticed Carlee as one of the people in the group and alerted the police. Carlee and the mystery man left the Red Roof soon after and a nearby doorbell camera spotted Carlee getting dropped off around the block from her home shortly before arriving back home. (Allegedly)

An alleged person who was with her posted a comment on a video stating that Carlee is going to state she had a mental breakdown and that she was wandering around for 2 days.

This is just what the streets are saying. Y’all think it’s true?"

This seems plausible. Obviously, there was no toddler, so she either hallucinated that or just made it up. Which is pretty messed up, so I hope she was having some kind of lapse in judgement.

It’s not “obvious” there was “no toddler”.

Uh yeah it is. Otherwise the police would still be looking for this wandering toddler. They obviously don’t believe there was a toddler wandering down the highway.

Unless you work for the Hoover police department, you’re guessing. It’s ok to admit you don’t know everything.

NP. This happens on ALL of these threads. People create these crazy narratives as if they have some special insight - mostly just to trash people. It's disgusting.

There’s no special insight being claimed. It’s just pretty obvious there was no toddler on the side of the road. Except apparently to you.

Be sure you figure it out, you online detective with no critical thinking skills.

NP. If you still think there was ever a toddler involved, you don’t get to question anyone else’s critical thinking skills.

Agreed. Someone making up an abduction involving a lost toddler is disgusting.

And a tone of resources have been spent on this, both financial and man-hours. Who knows what crimes and injustices had a trail that went cold while it was all hands on deck for this? And now there's just the Chief of Police statement that they are giving the family some space and will talk to her when ready, without any searches for missing children or warnings to be on the alert for people out there doing abductions, or what have you.

Still, sometimes persons under a lot of stress make irrational choices. It's such a shame that it apparently affected a lot more people than just the one, and her family. Total all hands on deck.

I’m also going to guess the police department knows there is no immediate risk to the community or suspect at large or else they wouldn’t be holding off on an interview. If it turns out this was some sort of hoax for attention or fundraising then that will be dealt with. If it was a mental health issue or just a 20-something snapping under the pressure of career and religious family, then I hope that will be handled somewhat privately (obviously she is now Google-able so she’ll never totally get her anonymity back).

I wish the best for this family as this gets sorted out. Any potential consequences will eventually come if needed.

Well said.

Are there any roofie type drugs that could have been involved?

Since you were there, you should contact the police and cooperate.

Just wanted to say I'm happy that in this instance the police acted as police should act. They immediately began with search parties, released cam footage, etc. Now that Carlee is back home, they're not imposing themselves on an already traumatized family.

Kudos to this local Alabama police department for doing the job they're paid to do, and for treating this family respectfully.

You guys were so quick to dismiss me saying it was a case of a runaway. And so quick to create a “lure” trend that doesn’t even seem to exist.

Whether for fake hostage situation, mental health break, or just to get away to do something her family wouldn’t approve of, this is increasingly likely.

Occam’s razor… random toddlers running around the highway at night to serve as a lure for human trafficking is absurd. Cooking this up intentionally or because of mental health issues was the simplest explanation.

Since you’re apparently aware of a missing or abused toddler, you should definitely contact the police.

Can someone tell me if the hotel/Red Roof Inn stories are confirmed? Was she at that motel at all? I also saw maybe she was with several people partying at the motel. Is any of this confirmed?
