The teacher contract is about one page long and there is no collective bargaining. There isn’t very much to it. The union has nothing to do with the contract. Who is suing who? |
I don't doubt your story but admin does little to help teachers in fops |
Did you notice that I said that the principal SAID he tried to help? I'm not so sure he really did. I think she was sent to our school for the express purpose of having this principal fire her. In this instance, I don't know what anyone could have done to help. This girl quivered when you spoke to her. She did not belong in the classroom. She had taught at least four years before this in at least two different schools. Perhaps, she was better at the beginning. |
How much do teachers make? Are they considered belonging to UMC households? |
It is public information. Depends on years of experience and degrees. |
Maybe if they’re married. |
Why give you a huge raise? You have the largest number of rich kids who just get tutors (less skill required) and you only apply to NoVA when the better jurisdictions don't hire you. Middling raises seem right for this area. |
I'm a single parent teacher and my kids were eligible for free preschool and reduced priced lunches when they were in ES. |
It's on the website: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/medi...-teacher-195-day.pdf |

+1. A starting teacher with a BS makes under $55k. With a Master’s it’s about $60k. I’m 5 years in with a Master’s and make about $70k. I like my job but I’m very glad my husband is a high earner because I don’t make nearly enough to live on around here. |
You think a person can’t live on $70k a year? DH and I both teach with others who are at about the same step as you and they are doing ok without housemates. |
So, "okay" is good? |
Yes. OK=Good. They have their apartment, car, go out with others and socialize. They definitely don’t fall under “…don’t make nearly enough to live”. |
So if you go back to the original question, they would NOT be UMC. |
