Can someone please explain to me how FCPS think a 3% raise will help retain and recruit talent? This is a shame!
How can we FCPS parents help chance this scenario? Our teachers deserve much better. Shame on our School Board. I am š¤! |
It is 3% + a step.
$58.2 million to provide a step increase for all eligible employees. $4.3 million to provide a step extension for all scales. I'm not sure what you want from FCPS. The Fairfax Board of Supervisors needs to raise taxes further if you want big teacher raises. |
Boo boo. Plenty of people are getting less |
My private sector company is also giving 3%. |
Iām sure your salaries are much higher to begin with. |
Even with the step itās a meager sum. Forces of supply and demand are at work and teachers are leaving. 3% and a step definitely not keeping anyone around or bringing folks back from the sidelines. |
My child's teacher makes $80k+ |
Ok. Unless they are married, 80,000 doesnāt get you much in this area. Salaries should match COL. |
Yup. Lots of kids will have subs in the beginning of the year. |
Same |
$80k is a perfectly respectable salary. You may be skewed by DCUM. |
they only work 180 days a year, and 7 hours a day........... |
|
It took me at least 12 yrs to get to that salary. My son made more than that his first year out of college. |
I am a 5 year teacher and I only make $60. Kinda hard to live in this area as a single woman. |
