But, the teacher contract sets the rules.  And, the union represents them in a lawsuit if they are a member.  The union represents the sorry teachers, too--as long as they pay union (or "association" ) dues.  That is their carrot to get teachers to join.[/quote]

The teacher contract is about one page long and there is no collective bargaining. There isn’t very much to it. The union has nothing to do with the contract.
